Had the vans too.

Coincidentally...I bought some apparel at the Vans store yesterday for the oldest boy (BOY!). Felt like I hadn't been in a mall since the 80's...

Spencer's and the arcades were the only reason I went to the mall.

I was born in 82 and feel much more aligned with stuff you read about Gen X than about Millenials.

So there.

I went in the Vans store in Montgomery Mall in MD a couple weeks ago and this twenty something sales kid comes up to me and I said I wore vans as a teenager

He then goes into the whole history of the brand, the FAST Times at Ridgemont High thing....

I told him with the air of a Marine vet who fought at Iwo Jima.... "Kid, I was THERE."

Which has always made me embarrassed
I've probably listened to DD and used the term "rad" within the last week. The wife just bought a pair of Rayban Wayfarers and my golf shorts look like clam diggers (all true).

Gonna go make a mix tape now...
Actually, the phrases and words were embarrassing

Duran Duran was not- the bass line in Rio still stands as one of the best ever

And they attracted a Frank Zappa veteran or two on guitar in the 90s so the musical chops were definitely always tbere

I'm not really embarrassed by any Gen X music (which essentially means the 80s) - my own wife views the 80s the way I do the 70s..... they were like one big cheesy Donnie and Marie variety show...

But 80s music, on the whole, was the last generation of analog and most of the genre was still innovating and progressing

Then millenials came along, not wanting to bother to learn to play an instrument, and rather preferring to program auto studio stuff like Acid

Popular music is complete garbage today

Keeping you in your house and off the street is well worth the cost of the purchasing of cheez its, bestial porn, and inflatable little boys it takes to keep you there

That's one way to go...a good one...

My spreadsheet shows if I start collecting now, I won't start losing money until I'm 71.5...

Of course, I'd rather they just give me every penny I put in, in one lump sum, and then let me manage the money myself...

They can keep the employer contributions...I'll gladly walk away...and save the Gen-Xers a boatload, plus make out much better myself...
