With the Hawks needing a Carolina win, having to watch a disinterested Newton, with his team needing a couple of late scores, slowly walk up to call each play with zero sense of urgency or desire to win was funny. The Jackassishness of that dude never ceases to amaze. A competitor only when things go his way.

We just watched Baltimore lose at home in a must win game
and it happens all the time (Carolina tanked, Jacksonville tanked)

have no understanding how closely matched the bulk of all NFL teams are
as 89hen pointed out in another thread

and then everybody else is pretty tightly matched
and even when those elite teams play bad teams they often don't win by much

There are a few elite teams
and then everybody else is pretty tightly matched
and even when those elite teams play bad teams they often don't win by much

Which is true, there is a tremendous amount of parity in the NFL. That's why it's so easy for a team, in the span of 1-3 years, can turn things around and go from being a doormat to being a Super Bowl contender. That's just what makes the Cleveland Browns so perplexing - how can a team be that bad that consistently? It belies all statistics and other metrics.

The Ted Thompson era is now over and could be considered "not particularly successful" of a run
considering he had the NFL's best quarterback for 8 years running

This will be fascinating to see... Will they go get some free agents..?
