BTW, if any of you think pushing for "Medicare for All" would be a bad position to take politically you probably ought to think again. I've been watching that over time. I just Googled to get the article at https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/4 ... re-for-all but it is by no means the only report on the phenomenon. When a politician says they want "Medicare for All" they are pushing for something somewhere around 2/3 of Americans want.

I personally don't think it's a good idea but that's irrelevant. As a political position it's a winner.

Dude, it doesn't matter what you or I think of the "Medicare for All" thing. It's a very popular idea. It's a political winner. If anybody thinks that a Democrat candidate taking a "Medicare for All" position is going to be something that is going to hurt them they are wrong.

So you’ll back it to get Trump out of office. Man of principle, my ass.

Yes it if comes to Harris or Trump I will back Harris unless something really horrible about her comes out. And that's because another principle is that character of the person in the President's position matters.

This is a perfect position that shows how we as a country are heading into the dust bin of history. We are increasingly losing our independence and become no more dependent on government. This will not end well

All I took from that segment is that he would probably siphon a few Democrat voters but wouldn't scratch Trump's base at all.

You should be rooting for him.

By the way, wrong thread for this. He's not running as a Dem.

I like Shultz, but he has NO chance in this two-party system, unfortunately. I hope Kasich runs as an R.
Remember, I didn’t vote for Trump either... :thumb:

And I agree, he will siphon votes from Dems, assuming he gets that far.

Just a question: you don't believe every American has the right to healthcare?

Really?

This is supposed to be the greatest country on earth. You'd let poor sick people just fucking die?

C'mon man.

The recent Kaiser poll has it at 56%
“...The poll found that Americans initially support “Medicare-for-all,” 56 percent to 42 percent..::

But if they were told that a government-run system could lead to delays in getting care or higher taxes, support plunged to 26 percent and 37 percent, respectively. Support fell to 32 percent if it would threaten the current Medicare program....”

Its all how you ask the question. If you polled:
“Do you support 100% government takeover of healthcare even if it meant higher taxes, longer wait times, and health care rationing” support would probably fall into the teens..

You’d better reconsider your new party affiliation. Libertarians are a party of minimal government, remember? You’d be happier as an unaffiliated voter. :twocents: Be careful: there is an Independent Party in DE, and I’ll bet that a lot of its “members” consider themselves unaffiliated.

How about "Do you support Medicare for all if it means cutting healthcare spending per person in half while having the same outcomes but people won't go bankrupt over medical bills and wait times will be mitigated by the fact that the private sector will still be in charge of providing care."?

Namely, a lack of substance

There are so many lefty versions of Trump waiting in the wings... you want entertainment- you’re about to get it in spades next year

At last - something in it for me! :thumb:

Ironically, she’s a victim of our fixation on style over substance.. and the Dems, being currently in thrall to an ideological purity movement, might be eating theirsmartest and most substantive candidate.

Warren’s intellect is vastly overblown. Klobuchar is smarter, and she’s not a publicity hound (get it?) like Caramel or Spartacus or Gillibrand.
