Rasmussen had Clinton winning. In fact, you'll recall that it was the LA Times that predicted Trump. They were the only group to predict Trump, everyone else was sure Clinton was the winner. Don't overlook that nugget of truth.

And Rasmussen got the 2018 midterms wrong. :thumb:

And the most recent test we have of a Rasmussen poll vs. what actually happened is the 2018 generic House ballot. If you look at the RealClearPolitics average of polls at https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epoll ... -6185.html it was the only poll that had a point estimate with Republicans getting more of the vote. It was off by 9.4 percentage points.

Now, it did get really close on the 2016 Presidential election. It had Clinton by 2 and she won by 2.1. But that's why I started a thread about a blind squirrel finding a nut. When you look at it over time the Rasmussen poll has had an awful record. Like for instance it also had Mitt Romney beating Obama in the popular vote. It's not one of the better polls.

Strangely, some of you guys have not been reading my posts! I've posted historical records of how Rasumussen has done before. It has not done well. Yes, it was very close on the popular vote for the 2016 Presidential election. But that was the exception. That's what the "blind squirrel finding a nut" post was about. When you look at its overall record it is AWFUL. It's not a good poll.

:suspicious: During the shutdown his poll numbers were down and it hurt. That was the narrative.

But it was conducted after a STOU, which usually gives the POTUS a bump in numbers.

The margin of error is +/- 2.5% -keep that in mind.

Also it's 1 of many polls. The only reason you're excited about this one is that it supports your perspective. :twocents:

Rasmussen is the only one that's positive for him. What's that say about the poll?
As we have learned from elections polls are not very accurate. People will lie to the pollsters especially conservatives, so they don’t have to hear lib vitriol.

Define "his performance". :coffee: I don't like HIM, I don't like his TWEETS, and I don't like the stupid shit that comes out of his mouth every time he opens it.

I DO like about 80% of the things he's done as president that relate to the actual country, however.

This week, our leaders in Washington will once again debate government funding and border security. Sadly, Americans can expect that this week's debate will again be laced with exaggerated rhetoric concocted to gratify partisans on both sides of the aisle. As we go into another week of Washington infighting and finger-pointing, I would like to offer a dose of reality for both sides.

President Trump: Let's be honest, neither Mexico nor "Chuck and Nancy" are going to pay for the wall from sea to shining sea that you promised during your campaign.

Leader Schumer, Speaker Pelosi: Our nation cannot have open borders. Given your past support for border security funding that included physical barriers under previous administrations, your current "outrage" seems disingenuous at best.

You're kidding yourself. The higher quality polls are as accurate as one can expect polls to be. Even in a perfect situation if you estimate a proportion with a random sample of 1000 people the "margin of error" is about 3 percentage points and that's for the percentage one candidate is going to get. If you're talking about the difference between candidates it's about double that.

If you look at the overall popular vote for either the 2016 Presidential Election or the 2018 overall House vote the average of the differences for all the polls were very close to the actual differences. And when you look at the individual polls there was only ONE case among the two elections where the actual result for the difference between the candidates or parties fell outside of the margin of error for any individual poll reported at the RealClearPoliitics site. And that one case was the Rasmussen poll saying Republicans were going to win the overall popular vote in the 2018 House elections by 1 percentage point right before they lost it by 8.4 percentage points.

Let's isolate this one. The last RealClearPolitics average of polls prior to the 2018 House elections had the Democrats up by 7.3 percentage points. They actually won by a little more than that. They won that overall vote by 8.4 percentage points.

Do you think that small error...where the average of polls under estimated Democrat performance by 1.1 percentage points...was due to conservatives lying to pollsters so they wouldn't have to hear lib vitriol?

Can you see where thinking that would make absolutely no sense?

Of course they can. We were told that building any bit of a wall would be an immoral act, and now those same people are approving money to do just that. Another person said that we needed a wall from sea to shining sea and anything less would be an outrage, and now he's going to be fine just building part of that wall. Compromise. Of course, all of it could have been a little better if we just compromised earlier and included things like DACA resolution and overall immigration reform, but these are generally big things for more serious politicians and we have very few of them in office right now.

Surprise, surprise. Pretty much what everyone here immediately suspected. Completely staged:
Jussie Smollett has turned from a presumed victim to suspect in the criminal investigation into the alleged racist, homophobic attack, and sources say there is mounting evidence the 2 brothers who were arrested and subsequently released were acting at Jussie's behest and reportedly paid.

Our sources say the brothers -- both of whom worked on the "Empire" set -- "completely cooperated" with Chicago cops during their interrogation over the last few days.

One law enforcement source tells TMZ at least one of the brothers turned over his phone and there is a call between him and Jussie in the vicinity of the "attack," but before it happened.
