If someone has spent years using illegal drugs...they had to pay for it, that sh!t ain't free...so they made a choice to get high rather than pay for something like, say, health insurance...

jon, your friend made his choice...I'm sorry he died...but he made his choice to not purchase health insurance, which could have caught his illness before it became incurable...

and as az points out, lots of people who are lumped into the great Democratic "uninsured" pile are folks who have made other choices rather than spend their money on health coverage...like college students who won't even work a few hours a week to pay for health insurance...or someone who has a new car but no health insurance...

Why are we being asked to pay for these people???

Folks that choose to live in populated urban areas are prone to respiratory ailments, injury in automobile accidents, violent crimes, etc. They too put an uneven strain on the medical industry because of their choices. Should we all have to pay for those transgressions??

Visage de bout, I don't think "every other person in the world is like that"....I just don't want to pay for anybody WHO IS like that... :shake:

I think we should provide health care to anyone under age 18 with a demonstrated. documented inability to receive proper health care from their parent/guardian...that would lower overall health care costs in this country...once 18, you have to pay on your own (got to college, get a job, join the military...lots of places where health care is available)

And yes, they are our brothers and sisters...and I believe in Tough Love for those who elect to waste their money on something other than essentials and then want to cry that I need to pay for their essentials... :coffee:

I was gonna post this same thing last week but I just couldn't get into another argument at the time. This inalienable right to health care shit is ridiculous. If you want health care then take the steps necessary to get it before it's too late. It does take some work but bitching about it after the fact doesn't cut it. Good post and as are the other ones like it. :thumb:

As far as the Government Employees go I don't think we should be bringing the rest of society to that level unless they are working for it as well. I do think that Congress and the others that have the special health care packages should be in the same group as the rest of the government employees instead of having their own special health care plans.

Fuking daddy big war buck conkos going batshit over an attempt to bring health costs under control by constantly bellering "you want free coverage." Who said it was going to be free? It ain't free now, and worse than that it is not even accessible for millions because of preexisting conditions, etc. Shit no it ain't free, you government workers may get yours free, but the rest of US are paying for it!

There needs to be equal access for all citizens for the same kind of health care the war bucks types are getting, and their needs to be major changes to the way the business is run in this country. First of all, get the profit away from health insurance, from attorneys, from malpractice, from medical centers, from hospitals, from drug companies.

Health care to the highest bidder!! FOAD!!

A one payer system is the only answer, cut out the greedy bastards that are rolling in the dough from one aspect or another of this industry, and get the care to all the people.

LMAO at you government pukes telling the rest of us that we don't want the government involved in health coverage.

Wedge I ain't a government worker and I agree with a lot of the things you say but how would it be administered in your mind that those that receive are actually contributing to the bill in some way? Would it be a new line item like Medicare or SS or how would it work in your mind so that people are contributing something to pay their own way? People say that health care is so important to them but in a lot of cases it ranks below cable, Iphones, and 42" plasma's. It's important to them after the fact and when someone else is footing the bill. I don't see what's wrong with people trying to make their own way and a good deal of the 47 million without insurance could afford it if they would cut some of the luxuries. That is a big sticking point for a lot of folks. I ain't generalizing on the luxury item and saying that is the case across the board, I am talking about mother fucker's that I know personally that have that shit and they think that they have a god given right to health insurance and that it should be provided for them.

I had a pre-existing condition when I got my insurance and although I had no coverage for the first year on the pre-existing stuff after the period was up it is covered and I don't know as much about the insurance game as you do so I'm wondering how that doesn't apply to others? I just don't know why we should throw a trillion dollars at a problem to take care of 47 million uninsured.

The painful truth is the obvious answer, socialized medicine for every citizen. Paid for by our taxes. So what if we pay more in taxes, the cost of making instant gazillionares in the health business and all the off shoots that come from it is hitting us all, insured or not.

Indifference and negativity from the benefactors of the current system just points to the greedy nature of our society and I can see them.

Time for us to join the rest of the civilized world and provide equal health care to every citizen, regardless of their lack of importance, importance, or imagined importance.

Folks getting involved in the health care industry should do so 100% because they want to help, not because it is a fat cake to cut.

You still don't get it....but I'll try and type slower so you might understand...

As with an employee of many companies, I get my health insurance as a benefit of employment...if I don't work, I don't get it...

And most of us get a choice of taking the military doctors or go onto the civilian market...if we pick that, we pay just like anybody else...and get reimbursed a small portion of what we pay...

To get this benefit, we agree to lower salaries, constant deployments, long hours sometimes...it comes with the job...

As I said before, if you want this....just sign up, and fulfill the contract...and badda boom, badda bing, you can have this great medical coverage...

If you're not willing to pay that price, then there can't be "equal access for all citizens for the same kind of health care the war bucks types are getting"... :coffee: :coffee:

Even S L O W E R for you hoagie, very few jobs exist anymore with health insurance as a benefit, and when it does exist, as is in OUR case, the deductibles and restrictions render the benefit to something other than "health INSURANCE", it is in fact a parody of what that term once meant.

Not so with the taxpayer paid packages for those elected officials, retirees, and eligible employees which by your responses you are one of, you fuckers still have insurance like insurance used to be, I know you don't understand that, but neither does my neighbor the math teacher who still has health, dental, and vision, and still manages to bitch about it to me, who pays his fucking benefits package.

Now what I am saying is, that every taxpaying citizen should have access to that type of coverage, without worry about being rated out of existence in two years or less, or being ridered or uprated for preexisting conditions, and if this private industry for profit medical industry we have can't provide it, then we the people will have to take it over.

It's an equality thing, know what I mean Vern?
