Usually the forces of darkness are very careful about crossing Trump. I can see Bolton wanting some payback obviously but Trump's mantra is always hit back harder - and he's connected enough to order a Polonium cocktail

Maybe he's worried about losing book sales if one of the other witnesses testifies before he does.

Regardless of John B's motivation, it's going to be pretty revealing if Republicans continue to say "no witnesses." Probably won't hurt their cause, at least in the short term, if they do that. But it'll be really obvious that they're interested in keeping information from the public. There is absolutely no good reason to refuse to have him testify.

BTW, I have no idea as to whether his testimony would be damaging to Trump. But the Republicans not wanting him to would not look good at all to anybody with at least some semblance of objectivity.

And, frankly, Republicans who care about Congress as an institution as well as about the truth of the situation should have been right there with the Democrats in objecting to the White House strategy of trying to keep anybody from testifying and refusing to provide documents. If they really believe there is no there there they should have been fine with having all the information come out.

But they were not and they are not. They have been all in with respect to restricting information flow. Not interested in sunlight at all.
