Meh...
I travel a lot for my job and am constantly amazed at how wonderful this country is from point to point
people that don't understand that should get out more

Mostly I hear how awful California and Texas are from people that have some kind of political stance
Truth be told they are both amazing states and it's my pleasure every time I get to go to either
and that is quite often

I have never found reason to dislike any state I have visited. They all have something to offer, though I am particular to states with mountains (I grew up in the forested rolling hills and it is comforting to not be able to see from horizon to horizon... regardless of what those uncouth Neanderthal Big Sky people say
I like seeing the horizon and love the shrub-steppe and deserts of E Wa. I also feel at home in the high prairies of Montana and the Dakotas. The wife grew up in desert and prefers the trees and mountains.

Cheney has a little of both depending on which direction you face. I get claustrophobic in Western Washington.

When you have mountains all around you, you’re in shade for 16 of 24 hours each day and don’t need AC

Why do you hate the environment you Palousian brute?

You are correct it is the politics that people don't like. There's good people in Alabama.

And on most continents, superiority is based on historical military conquest, agricultural prowess, or scientific discovery and innovation

On ours, it is based on barbecue.

I need no more evidence that we really are the greatest place on earth

All of those things are secondary to States’s Rights (as CA and others are demonstrating) and barbecue

For someone who grew up in the mountains, that concept just seems foreign, but I hear it a lot from flatlanders. They feel like mountains are going to "fall on them"....mostly it comes from chicks though, so take that for twat it's worth.... :kisswink: :kisswink: :kisswink:

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

I was born in the Olympus (Kansas City) of barbeque, have eaten at Zeus' (Arthur Bryant's) table and I spent 19 years living in the top pork producing state in the nation so I know and love good barbeque. Now I live in Oregon where good barbeque is hard but not impossible to find.

Carolina barbeque has its place but comparing it to Kansas City barbeque is like comparing skirt steak a to ribeye.

And that is the god's honest truth. It is almost enough to make a person want to live there permanently.

I know it's just a matter of taste but I do not think Carolina BBQ is the thing. I've been to a number of conferences in the Carolinas where the big thing on the social night was Carolina BBQ. And to me, no, it was not a big thing. Edible? Yes. Great? No.

But, again: That is one of those taste things. To other people it could be the best thing in the world.

First of all, you unwashed swamp thing, "Carolina" is not a state

NC and SC are as vastly different as TX and LA (for most of the same reasons.... education, hygiene, number of teeth, etc)

And NC isn't just a state when it comes to barbecue... NC has its own BBQ regions.

If you were eating meeting/convention BBQ you were eating crap
