I have my doubts, but we'll see.

If the social justice movement turnout in general and the Black turnout in particular is high he will lose. He'd have lost last time if Black turnout hadn't been down. They were violating a 6 PM curfew order and had refused to disperse.
They were ILLEGALLY blocking an interstate, Vine Street Expressway (I-676), and had refused to disperse.

That made it an ILLEGAL, ILLEGITIMATE protest, and the police had every right to use non lethal measures (OC, CS, rubber bullets, batons), etc. About damn time to see the Philly PD, after 2 ays of rioting and looting, starting to restore order.

BS they had nowhere to go. They were being funneled in one direction. And they were on a fucking interstate, which they had zero legitimate reason to be on. They had been blocking rush hour traffic for HOURS. And they had ignored warnings and orders to disperse BEFORE the non lethal was fired.

They had the ability to go home on time and squandered it. They had a chance to move out of the road after the fact and didn't. They had somewhere to go all day and chose not to. It's their choices that led to them piled against a fence later in the day. Adults understand they need to make choices to avoid bad situations.

Tear gas is employed for crowd control and this crowd looks pretty controlled to me. And they didn't throw it INTO the crowd, but around it.

It does add fuel to the fire of what they are protesting about so it was (IMO) a dumb move but that was a move also done by adults that made choices.

In NYC violence and looting out of control for the last 2 nights, dozens of police injured, hundreds arrested, Deblasio we don’t need the Nat Guard or a curfew, and now this. Like I said with previous post on Deblasio, you can’t make this shit up.

Today Deblasio finally acknowledges the need for a curfew, yet its only 11 PM, while most other big cities are 6-7 PM. And the NYPD is too undermanned to stop the ongoing, widespread looting. Still no call for the Nat Guard by Deblasio. Now he's finally acknowledged that they need an earlier curfew, and says tomorrow's will be 8 PM. Too little, 3-4 days too late..

Two separate neighborhood groups clashed Monday evening after about 100 people, nearly all white males, walked on Girard Avenue carrying bats, hammers and shovels. The men said they believed they were protecting their neighborhood in the event looters or rioters showed up in Fishtown.

Tensions flared around 7 p.m. when a separate crowd of mostly younger Fishtown residents gathered across the street, begging about a dozen Philadelphia Police officers to send them home.

“Leave us alone!” one woman yelled. “We live here and they’re making us feel unsafe!”

Another man told police: “I saw hundreds of people teargassed two hours ago for walking around and these people are standing around with bats.”

The groups exchanged words about “new Fishtown” and “old Fishtown,” arguing over the soul of a neighborhood that has changed dramatically over the last two decades.

One man who appeared to be wielding a hatchet was taken into police custody. As of 8 p.m., police had lined the street and kept crowds separated.

Their own neighbors don't want them there. They look like a bunch of pussies, coming out after police had already tear-gassed and removed peaceful protestors. Way more respect to the demonstrators risking their lives against the violence of the police.
