Sorry, buddy, I can't even get angry with you because you're so wrong about history. You need to read up on Eisenhower and Vietnam. American "involvement" in Vietnam politics actually goes back to the 1920s. Suggest the book, Vietnam, by Stanley Karnow, the definitive volume on the history of not only America in Vietnam, but of Vietnamese history and how it related to the conflict.

Get the book, it's cheap on Amazon, used. Come back in 3 years, when you're done reading it, genuflect and apologize to me for this ignorant rant. Better yet, Google Eisenhower and Vietnam.

I kind of fall in line with Ron Paul when it comes to foreign policy. America should encourage democracy around the world and we have every right to gather intelligence and so on so forth. However, our stereotype as being "meddlers" can be traced back to World War II. After winning the war, Eisenhower's policy of the domino effect encouraged us to sacrifice a few thousand soldiers whenever we deemed it necessary. Things came to a halt in Vietnam, but we were still prompted to flex our muscle in the Gulf War and the Iraq War. Not to mention our involvement with Iran's leadership. American's aren't the bad people here, it's just when our government oversteps its boundaries, it comes back to bite us in the butt.

Still, we need to draw lines based on our belief systems and not whether Vietnam was started by a Democrat and ended by a Republican. The two-party system is playing off of people like Alphagriz1 and arguments like that don't mean anything.

Every interview that I have ever had, except for one, the interviewer has been white. I've only been hired 1/4 of the time. That is an awful rate. Despite being an overachieving, fat, black man.

Hounder, speaking as one overweight guy to another, I imagine you're weight wasn't helping you in those interviews...overweight people scream "lazy head case" to a potential employer...It's commendable you've acknowledged you have a weight problem and are addressing it. What is your retention rate at the jobs you've been hired? When given that 1 in 4 chance, has the opportunity led to internal growth with progrssive responsibility and pay? I'm not saying you haven't experienced racism in your career, but let's examine all of the factors (and be honest of your own shortcomings to give yourself a better chance) before we just assign your 25% hiring rate to deep-seated racism in your business community.

I even made it through two rounds for a supervisor position at the 1st call center I worked at. Didn't make it to the 3rd round.

When I worked at McDonald's I was recommended for a shift manager twice. Was passed over both times. Close but no cigar, that has been my life since after college.

On the other hand, a democratic "Oceania" made up of the U.S., the Commomwealth, and the Asian littorals including a defeated Japan, might have allowed the United States to remain, free, independent, democratic and economically powerful.
