Thanks for the link, I'm glad the vaccines are working, as the numbers are dropping. Booster is said to protect people for a very long time against variants of Omicron.
Side question. How many people do you think were naturally immune due to seeing enough of Covid's "cousins" in the past?
Neil Cavuto wasn’t.

Neil Cavuto wasn’t.
He should have gotten the vax and rightly so, due to being immunocompromised.

But to my question, with an efficacy of 95%, why did it require 119 people to be vaccinated in order to prevent one case of mild to moderate Covid?

That's a lot of shots to prevent something that won't require a person to go to the hospital and that total increased as the vaccine lost effectiveness.

Actual Risk Reduction will help you answer that one.

Show me where his numbers are wrong. :coffee:
 Nice flail. Nobody is disputing numbers houndie, as pretty much everyone is quoting studies listed on preprint servers. What most are pointing out is that old studies, that show things like 95% vaccine effectiveness are obviously out of date, or CDC masking studies that cherry picked data and got called out for it by professionals in the field can't be used to bolster a case.

It's the clinging to the narrative that if we would have simply worn a mask and got a shot this whole thing would be over, is what people are pointing out. That, and promoting false concepts that would have gotten you laughed out of polite company before the pandemic.

The official narrative on the effectiveness of the vaccines (and natural immunity) has been changing since the vaccines were introduced. Interestingly enough the changes have been in line with questions that SG has been asking from early in the process.

The virus has been changing too. The fact remains: we have a pandemic of the unvaccinated no matter how you parse and quibble with the data.

SG predicted that the virus would change. He posted about natural immunity from having had the virus. He predicted that the virus would adapt to vaccines and that vaccines would lose effectiveness over time. He posted all of this long before the appointed experts at the CDC and in Washington were willing to admit them.

JSO has been and continues to tout the company line. SG's posts have proven far more accurate than JSO's. So if SG says that it is becoming a pandemic of the vaccinated, it behooves us to listen. You might not agree with him but to dismiss him out of hand is short-sighted and stupid.

Thanks bro, you're too kind. All I've really done is just pay attention to the Israeli and UK data because they actually put out decent stats and they are about two months ahead of the USA in vaccinations. What happens there is going to happen in the US around two months later.

Of course the reason why I started paying attention was because so much of what I learned in college was being contradicted. This pandemic did what it was going to do and we couldn't do much to stop it. Regardless the insertion of politics into this was on a whole new level with bullshit phrases being tossed around, like asymptomatic spreader, etc.

Listen to Fauci. Asymptomatic spread is rare.

He wasn't predicting anything that wasn't already common knowledge about the behavior of viruses, Fauci was predicting a bad winter and mutations early in 2020 on national TV.

Its overwhelmingly the unvaccinated that are dying and the unvaccinated that are using up the ICU beds. And the few deaths among the vaccinated were almost exclusively those 65+ and/or immunocompromised.

Exactly! That's all I've ever said. Common knowledge was discarded. I simply followed what we have said for years up until this virus.

Speaking of narratives…still desperately clinging to your own, based on what a few people may have said (including the actual leader of our country) as we were still get acquainted with Covid.

Being wrong sometimes is hard.

Image

What narrative would that be? The one that felt we should have isolated those most susceptible and not been so heavy handed with the lockdowns? That narrative? Or the one that not everyone needed a shot? Or maybe the one where we should have let our medical community actually practice medicine instead of telling them what to do?
My favorite is the "just two weeks" narrative that started this whole thing. Of course the "this will be over when we get a vaccine" was a pretty good one. Last one in my top 3 is the "vaccine is better than natural immunity" narrative.

All were wrong, and the Covidians are still quadrupling down in stupid.
