Since this article mentions both Ukraine and Putin I thought I would through it here. I am sure the people in Ukraine are comforted by Kerry's remarks.

Also I see they did a remake in 2012. Apparently initially it was verse the Chinese, but the Hollywood libs changed it to vs the North Koreans because they didn’t want to offend the Chinese. The movie didn’t get released in China regardless, so they should have kept it vs the Chinese.

Yep. I was wrong. Though Putin would take the part of Ukraine it wants through more of a slowburn infiltration/propaganda style. But I mean the weakest and most mentally frail POTUS in modern history is in power so now's the best time to grab what you want with brute force.

Well, Putin did 2 invasions under Obama, 1 under Biden, and 0 under Trump. Why is that?

Several reasons:
1 - Perceived strength/weakness of POTUS, NATO, UK PM, French President and the will of the American People
2 - Ancillary world events like the Ukrainian Revolution of 2014, Syria, a global Pandemic
3 - Time/Money/resources required to mobilize and execute an offensive
4 - I don't think it's beyond reason to suggest Russia might be discussing plans/objectives with their own allies like Belarus and China

Remember, the annexation of Crimea took place AFTER a revolution in Ukraine (which came after the Ukrainian President aligning himself with Russia)

US Presidents get way too much credit/blame. The sun doesn't rise and set in Washington DC.

I'm trying to look at it as objectively as I can and trying to avoid the boiler plate anti-Obama/Trump/Biden tropes.

Ukraine never should have given up their nukes by agreeing to the Budapest memorandum. Its clear Russia, and to a lesser extent, the UK amd US, never were going to uphold it.


Should be a lessen for all countiries in the future who obtain nukes- never ever give up your nukes, even with “we’ll protect you” assurances from the West.

Ukrainian forces destroyed dozens of Russian tanks along the eastern and northern borders on Thursday.

According to the country's defence ministry, the figure was higher than 30 by the end of Thursday. They also claimed to have destroyed 'up to' 130 armoured combat vehicles.

Ukrainian forces put up a stiff resistance around Kharkiv where multiple Russian tanks and armoured vehicles were pictured destroyed - with bodies lying in the streets.

Later, another BMP fighting vehicle was captured, along with the crew of four Russian soldiers, in the same region in eastern Ukraine.

And around 2pm local time (12pm GMT) the Ukrainian military said troops had destroyed five armoured transport vehicles and a car during fighting at the Vistupovich-Rudnya border point between Ukraine and Belarus.

A further 15 T-72 tanks were destroyed or damaged by the Ukrainian forces using the Javelin PTRK, an American anti-tank missile, nearly Glukhov in the country's east late this afternoon.

In other incidents, tank-busting rocket launchers donated by Britain were said to have destroyed Russian tanks, while Javelin missiles gifted by Sweden destroyed a column of enemy vehicles

We should give Ukraine as many Javelins as they want. We were just fielding them in the fleet before I left the USMC. It's a badass system. Lock on, fire and forget and GTFO of town before the armor knows what hit it. Flies over the target; sends two shape charges downward into the thinnest armor; first triggers any reactive armour; second makes strawberry jam of the crew. Fucking beautiful.

When a cyberattack shuts down the power grid for a few weeks or opens the sluice gates on a dam or spoofs track switches I think tunes will change on that score
