Re: The Ukraine Crisis
So, looks as if the Russians have fingered the UK for the Nordstream sabotage.
Other than Liz Truss's highly compromised phone, they've got nothing!
In addition, we have Ukraine trying to sink Russian ships in the Black Sea, but are now blaming the Russians as "food terrorists" because they aren't interested in allowing grain shipments through that same Black Sea due to the attacks.
Can't make this up how stupid they think everyone is to buy this shit.

Agreed. Imagine how stupid people must be to buy the story that Russia was "provoked" and is attacking Ukraine "to defend itself". There are some real gullible fools out there toting Russia's water in this. They even get on message boards and post that ridiculous Russian propaganda as well. Most fascinating thing about the Ukraine war is the sheer number of top strategic thinkers who warned for years that it was coming if we continued down the same path.
No-one listened to them and here we are.
Small compilationof these warnings, from Kissinger to Mearsheimer.
The first one is George Kennan, arguably America's greatest ever foreign policy strategist, the architect of the U.S. cold war strategy.

The only people responsible for the invasion of Ukraine are the actual people who invaded Ukraine. Russia didn't have to do anything, but they chose to invade Ukraine. Russia wasn't threatened in any way, other than being restricted in dominating and attacking their neighbors at will. They wanted the freedom to attack neighbors at will and steal their territory, and the rest of the world has decided that kind of behavior is no longer tolerated.

I’m so proud of the fact I never watched one single episode of Friends.

I have a generalized aversion to mass appeal pop culture. It’s why I never liked Michael Jackson, American Idol, or pop country. Little sustenance, leaving you feeling tired and empty inside.
Friends, the Nathan’s Hot Dog or Ford Mustang of sitcoms.
Mostly lips and assholes or, within 4 years, just another cheesy mustang on the road.

Friends is just a cheap imitation of Seinfeld, and Seinfeld just isn't that good to me.

So Friends is to sitcoms what the Beatles were to popular music.kalm wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 2:43 pmI have a generalized aversion to mass appeal pop culture. It’s why I never liked Michael Jackson, American Idol, or pop country. Little sustenance, leaving you feeling tired and empty inside.

Well, if you even watched just the first scene of the first episode, you would now be gay.

Seriously, that couldn't be more of an overblown generalization. Just because many people like something doesn't automatically mean it has "little sustenance" or "leaves you feeling tired and empty inside". It's like that saying that correlation does not imply causation. If you really mean what you said, you're certainly missing out on a lot of really good things just because you want to be different no matter what. And even worse, you're letting that pop culture that you so deride dictate for you what you will or will not enjoy since pop culture is defining for you what you can watch/enjoy. If you really wanted to be different, ignoring what pop culture likes or doesn't like and deciding on your own what you like and not like would be the way to go. Seriously, turn on Friends, listen to earlier Michael Jackson, and then decide if you like it.kalm wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 2:43 pmI have a generalized aversion to mass appeal pop culture. I never thought Friends was like Seinfeld at all, other than being set in New York and shown on the same night on the same channel. Certainly different shows. Oh, and I liked them both. Not as good as "The Wonder Years", but going for different audiences.

Of course it is and I will give things a chance (UNI’s Beatles quip was spot on). My reply was semi-tongue in cheek but I still find most mass appeal items rather vapid.
I’ll admit some early MJ is catchy (it is pop after all)….especially to a 12 year old. I’ve seen enough Friends clips to know with certainty I wasn’t missing anything.
It’s not really about the quality…it’s the excessive love of mediocre art. If something is funny enough, I’ll enjoy it fully.

RINOs are establishment, i.e. mostly useless policy that is at a disconnect with the average citizen (just look at how Ukraine is being handled for example). Trump is non-establishment in that he's a big "fuck you" to the establishment. Like it or not the mask doesn't come off if he doesn't win '16.

Lol. Ukraine has literal Nazi's on their side, but yeah stick with the "Putin puppet" narrative.houndawg wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 6:06 am... also seen in the support of Putin by evangelical christians and proud boys and the NRA, et al..... but yes, like Socrates said: all wars are fought for money. Eh, the imperialistic view is over simplifying this war. There's an ethnic divide/blood feud in play with the Russia-Ukraine war that makes this more than just a land grab. I'm not going to pretend to know all the ins and outs that goes back over the hundreds of years these two regions have been in conflict, I just know the US has no defense treaties with Ukraine and Ukraine has no national security risks at play and thusly we have absolutely no obligation whatsoever to support Ukraine. The elites want us involved so they can keep lining their pockets. From a US perspective, it's that simple.![]()

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
I don't think it has anything to do with Biden, more of a "why are we wasting billions on a corrupt regime in Ukraine when we have a shitload of other problems here" mentality. Also we have no formal defense treaty with Ukraine so we have zero obligation to fund/defend them other than whatever backroom deals out elites made in exchange for the money laundering scheme going on over there.GannonFan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 2:31 pmI think you're making it too complicated. Biden is for it. That's why the Trumpers are against it and that's why the progressives are against it too (despite pulling back their letter). You could argue that both groups are against spending money outside of the US that doesn't directly benefit the US (too many steps to see how stopping Russia from swallowing up other countries without provocation benefits the US for those folks to think through).

I think this is more about actual accountability for where the weapons are going. Similar to Syria in which the US was supplying weapons and they astoundingly ended up in the wrong hands.
