I’ll read the article. In the meantime I can assure you we do indeed have a healthcare delivery system. And it ain’t all the government’s fault.

You do realize that private entities can be inefficient bureaucracies too? Especially when that bureaucracy increases profits.
See bolded portion from my original post. :thumb:

I am not letting corporations off the hook, nor our judicial system. This is a highly complex topic and there is plenty to blame to be thrown around.

To fix it, and yes I think it can be fixed, it is going to take giving up something by all parties and learning something new. It might also put a bit more personal responsibility on individuals. ;)

BTW: You had in the past asked me what sources of information I go to for understanding topics and I replied the same ones as yours. I have to retract that statement, as I most definitely do not use Twitter.

Twitter is good for mundane or irrelevant topics like sport scores and cat videos. Anything more complex than that should be left to other forms of media that can go more in-depth and provide support to one's opinion. If one wants to get their information in disjointed and filled with fallacies verbiage, Twitter is for them. Of all the "gotcha" moments posted on Twitter, 96.3% of them are anything but that. My :twocents: (or less) worth.
Twitter is like anything…it depends how you use it. When trolling a college football message board it’s convenient. :) It’s also not bad as a news aggregator for quickly seeing updates and multiple sources to deeper stories as most journalistic media provide links.

But yes…user beware. I’ve been duped by it just like everyone has.

How much less expensive and complicated would health insurance and healthcare costs be if consumers needed to shop for their insurance and care like they would for a new car?
As I was typing my post out I was thinking about the relationship an insurance provider could play in the role of healthcare. And what came to mind is a sliding scale of risk (behaviors) and rewords that may help provide people who are seeking coverage an outline of what behaviors are acceptable under a policy or not.

I think there is avenues that we haven't explored yet in this area due to a variety of reasons that should be explored.

Well mister fisherman, you have hooked me more than once then. :thumb: I am happy that you practice catch and release.

I personally find it about as useful as tits on a boar, but realize that is just me. I also have several neutral high level emails briefs that I get each day, that give me the highlights of yesterday and potentially coming up (1440, WSJ, and Morning Brew). So the "news" portion of Twitter has never applied to me.

I like it. Gives a broad overview of the main topics plus a bit of science related things that I like.

All three of them are similar in their topics they present, just slightly different take on them. Between the three of them I get a pretty good idea of things that I should be aware of. I also subscribe to "The Hill" but not as fond as it gets very biased at times and I find that they leave facts out of the story when I do more digging into it. This isn't the case with all their stories, just a few which isn't bad overall I guess. I do like their 12:30pm report with gives a mid-day look at things.

Over all I get 5 different "The Hill" emails (each a different segment of the news, aka Economy, Defense, Judaical, etc.), 1440, three different versions of "Morning Brew (Economy, Retail, and a general one), I also get a hot stories list from Reason.com, Scotusblog and breaking news from CNBCNews.

And I forgot but I get a couple of WSJ ones as well.

I think those are always oversimplistic arguments. There's a difference between wanting to be directed on how to do things by the federal government and between receiving benefits from the government, especially benefits that are funded in part with taxpayers money in the first place. But when you live on Twitter, those distinctions and discussions don't really get a lot of airtime or clicks. :coffee:

I don't really follow her nor Arkansas politics as much as you seem to. What was she dishonest about? This literally might be the first time I've heard this being discussed so I really don't know. Do tell.

Really? You’ve never heard the states rights/keep the feds out - until we need help thing?

You don’t have to follow anything to see the difference between her own text and news headline. The meddling hand being stopped at the river vs. we need the feds to pick up 100% of the tab.

I get that there is some hypocrisy on the part of Sanders but is there a difference between not wanting the federal government to tell states what to do and wanting the federal government to use some of the tax dollars it's collected from your residents to provide assistance following an emergency?

Yes. I wouldn’t want to live in a state with laws like Idaho as I’m sure many of them feel the same and an intervening federal government forcing either of us to live like the other is problematic.

FEMA aid is like insurance. Arkansas benefits from all of our dollars and is better because of it.

It’s the same old freedom (me) vs. community (we) argument. Hypocrisy abounds and it’s complicated.

Florida School Censors Madonna and Child; Calls It “Assault on Family Values”
The school said the Virgin Mary in the painting “doesn’t look happy enough” about experiencing the joy of motherhood. Governor Ron DeSantis applauded the move.

A high school principal in Jacksonville, Florida has banned his teachers from showing an Early Renaissance painting of the Madonna and Child, claiming the Virgin Mary “doesn’t look happy enough” about experiencing the joy of motherhood. Governor Ron DeSantis quickly voiced his support for the principal, adding that Mary Magdalene “looks like a hooker.”

Did you read the last line of the "article"? ... Update: April Fools!

I wasn't for "cancelling David". I was for respecting parents' rights and debating the appropriate age. I would be fine with my kids seeing that sculpture.
