People in a small town aren't going to put up with carjacking an old lady, robbing a store, spitting on a cop or stomping on the flag, etc. While protesters opinions about social justice are valid, the opinions of people in small towns about respect and law & order is no less valid.

Lighten up Francis. It’s a more than fair critique. I love small towns and live in one. They also have there issues. If anything the most egregious part the critique misses is the satire in Mellencamp’s music. He saw the warts as well.

They're up in arms because someone gave them a reason and they skipped right past their own hypocrisy straight to outrage. I haven't watched the video but I don't think the lyrics are as bad as the left wing Karens are making them out to be.

Given a choice between letting people carjack an old lady, rob a liquor store, or spit in a cop's face get off easy or get the crap beat out of them, I'll take get the crap beat out of them. I'd prefer they were arrested, charged and tried but that doesn't seem to be an option in places like Portland. Aldean's warning to AnTiFa types isn't wrong. If they bring their bullsh!t to a lot of small towns they better hope they get arrested before the locals get ahold of them. I've said it before but while circumstances may explain someone's behavior they do not excuse it. There should be consequences for breaking the law, destroying property, harming others, etc.

It was plastered all over Twitter. There was no seed needed to be planted. It’s a cheezey song reminding me of Toby Keith’s jingoistic stuff during the Iraq War. It’s meant to be a dog whistle. I’m just observing the social commentary. A flex by the right, the criticism of it by the left.
