You could just ignore the official religion of the nation, just like I ignore and don’t complain about Pride month and other such nonsense …
What does the Constitution say about Pride month? :coffee:
Why is it a whole month anyway? A bit much wouldn’t you say

Yes, I'd agree with your statement of crazy. Thank goodness that those rules don't need to be followed any more as well. If man couldn't abide by them in the past, ain't no way we can do it now.
What kind of god would suggest those rules in the first place?
 First you say people need to follow rules to be good enough to get into heaven and now try to pivot to "what sort of God" would put out those rules.

What rules are you specifically talking about?

I don’t know. That’s why I’m asking.

So God laid out rules in the OT. Humans kept failing. So he came out with new rules in the NT and/or sent his son to tell us it’s ok that we’ve failed?

In order for Man to have a functioning relationship with man, yes they had to abide by the rules of the OT.

This was for a reason. It was to teach man that they can never be righteous enough, so a gift was offered to all who accept.

Punishing someone for not accepting a gift they didn't ask for is pretty fucked up.

Why would you want to follow a god that is that fucked up and unjust?

Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them

Mike Johnson thinks the Earth is 6000 years old and has used government funds to create and run young Earth creationist museums. He believes dinosaurs were on the Ark at the time of the flood. I take issue with that

In a sermon delivered in 2016 at Christian Center Shreveport in Louisiana, Johnson also blamed school shootings on a lack of godliness that he suggested was rooted in teaching children they “evolve from the primordial slime,”

How is God punishing you if you choose not to accept a gift? Wouldn't that be your choice? Also, the bar is set exceptionally low. It's achievable by all.

What's your threshold of "goodness" to be welcomed by these just gods?

The New Speaker…

Post by clenz »

If god knows all even before it happens cutely god knew Adam and Eve were going to eat the apple

So he gave them a test that he knew they’d fail and rigged it for them to fail

Then for all of humanity after said “fuck you. Believe in me or go to hell”

So he knew they’d fail and created hell to punish all of humanity for ever because people he knew would fail a test failed the test. Then he turns around and few thousand years later and goes “I’m such a good guy that I will save you from the gell I created and damned everyone too if you just believe I impregnated a young teenage girl without her having sex to give birth to my son who I will allow to be killed in my name”

I mean holy fuck, it might have to be real because no one could make that up.

No, that would be the natural order of what was going to happen. It was their choice. Let me rephrase your question. Your son is offered a scholarship for football. He declines. You're saying the college was shitty to your son?

I'll ask again. In your scenario, where is the line drawn? What gets someone into your just gods heaven? How good do they have to be?

In your situation does the school then damn my son to hell for all eternity for denying the scholarship unless he worships that coach as his god?

That's such a weak comeback, which is more than par for the course for you.

1. god created everything, right?
2. god knows everything, right?
3. god created Adam and Eve, right?
4. god didn't have hell for them when he created them.
5. god went "This is good" and then went I'm going to create a test for these humans
6. I know they are going to fail the test, because I know everything and I created everything
7. When they fail, which I know they will because I created them and have set in motion things to make them fail, I will punish them by creating hell

Sometimes when I read your posts I wonder if you'd remember to breath if it wasn't biological.

Ever think God knows who will choose salvation and who won't? It's called free will. God doesn't want you to kiss His ass, He wants fellowship with you, much like a father and his son.

You keep trying to act like choosing salvation is some unfair choice, but it's your choice and no one else's. You don't believe, don't choose it.

Why do you think I keep asking about your just gods. What's the threshold to get their blessing? Who will make the cut? Do we know, or just hoping?

You familiar with when Jesus is crucified on the cross? He's next to a criminal who is also crucified. He accepted Christ. A lifelong criminal and he was accepted just like that. He wouldn't have been accepted in your scenario. A lot of people would never be accepted in your scenario.

I think he's referring to the millions who lived and died for thousands of years before a roving band of goat-herders invented their cosmology from the thousands of other versions that had already existed for millennia, and tried to take credit for the Golden Rule. The Grateful Dead's motto is Be Kind , they have as much legitimacy as a religion as christianity, are at least as popular, and the music is better than any you'll find in church. Well, white churches anyway.. :coffee:

I won't argue with you on that. I'm on record many times on this board stating that the worst thing for Christianity are Christians themselves.

I consider myself very fortunate to have come to Christ on my own terms. Met a lot of atheists, not saying you are, that were raised in the church and the shit they tell me spins my head.

A lot of Christians miss the main message that we all have our problems. Living in a glass house and throwing stones doesn't help.
