Is Biden trying to sabotage the Harris campaign? Here you the sitting POTUS not involved in the current Presidential campaign at the height of the campaign. Unheard of for a sitting POTUS. During Commiela’s Elipse rally Biden is at the WH literally within sight of the Elipse, yet he doesn’t make an appearance? Yet at the same time he is on a zoom meeting where he calls all the Trump supporters trash. That’s the 2nd (or 3rd) time Biden has been doing an event at literally the same time as a Harris event. It’s a well known secret that Biden is pissed off he was shoved aside, and that his fake doctor wife hates Commiela after she called Biden a racist on national TV during the 2020 donk primary debate. If I thought Biden had the capability I would think he was playing some 3D chess.

Why do people still back Trump, after everything? 5 things to understand about MAGA supporters’ thinking

1. Media distortion
According to this line of argument, the left-leaning media dissects Trump’s every word, and the media then distorts what he says. I have found that some Trump supporters think that people who feed too much on this allegedly biased media diet can get TDS and develop a passionate, perhaps illogical dislike of Trump.

I have also heard hardcore Trump supporters argue, with no evidence, that such “fake news” media outlets, like CNN, are part of a larger deep state plot of the federal government to upend the will of the people. This plot, according to those who propagate it, includes not just leftists, government bureaucrats and people who claim to be Republicans, but really aren’t, but also people in law enforcement.

Some Trump supporters also see merit in his contention that he is being wrongly persecuted, just like some see the Jan. 6 defendants being persecuted.

2. Bread on the table, money in the bank

….To be frank, I don't think Selzer's final offering in Iowa is anywhere close to reality, and there's empirical data to support that viewpoint. For example, the poll has Harris leading with seniors by 19 points. Trump won seniors there by nine points in 2020. The idea that Trump has lost 28 points among seniors in a relatively red state just doesn't compute.

The overall composition of the electorate in Selzer's poll would be Democrat +3. Again, this is a state that Republicans +8 in 2020. Nothing else in the crosstabs makes any sense either.

According to Selzer, not only are Democrats going to win two of Iowa's four congressional districts, but they are going to do so in blowouts.

For context, Republicans currently hold all four of Iowa's congressional seats. Yet, we are supposed to believe that Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, an incumbent, is losing by 16 points to her Democrat challenger? There is no chance IA-2 is that close either.

Further, according to the poll, the top issue for people in Iowa isn't inflation or the economy. It's "democracy." Iowans supposedly also care more about abortion than the economy.

…..Lastly, it's worth noting that Selzer had Trump up 14 points just a few months ago. Are we really to believe Iowa, a red state, has shifted 17 points toward the Democrat nominee? I mean, come on.

How did we end up here? Did Ann Selzer release this poll to juice Harris given her long history of being allied with figures like Hillary Clinton, Claire McCaskill, and J.B. Pritzker? I don't know, and I'm not going to go that far. It's possible she genuinely ended up with an outlier and had the guts to go ahead and release it anyway instead of massaging it like some other pollsters would have done.

With all that said, I have no idea who is going to win this election. In fact, with just a couple of days left of voting, I'm more convinced than ever that this is a pure toss-up race. What I'm sure of, though, is that this Selzer poll is not close to what the real result will be in Iowa, and those using it to predict a Democratic landslide nationally are fooling themselves. Maybe I'll look like an idiot in a few days for saying that, but I'm willing to take my chances.

I drove through some mountain back roads in Virginia yesterday.

Not that yard signs are evidence of anything, but Harris/Walz signs outnumbered Trump signs by quite a bit, which is the complete opposite of 8 years ago. I wish I took a video of my drive. That said, these areas have grown more liberal over the years as Northern Virginians buy up weekend properties or move further west, but it was still shocking to see how many DNC signs there were compared to years past.

I just did the same 8 days ago coming back from the Shenandoah Valley. I was literally counting the 100 miles of US 340 (mostly 2 lane) from Shenandoah VA to Frederick MD. In VA Page, Warren, Frederick, and Clarke Counties. I drive that route a double digit number of times a year. Trump signs Page Co it was 40+ Trump properties until the 1st Harris/Walz. Granted Page is the furthest from DC and it is Conkistan. Trump still outnumbered in Warren & Frederick Counties. The only places Harris/Walz outnumbered were Boyce and Berryville, both Clarke Co, so maybe Clark Co overall outnumbered Trump, but that’s because that’s the closest of those counties to DC, and most of those people work in NOVA/DC. Trump signs were outnumbered there also in 2020 and I think in 2016, but it’s hard to remember.

Commiela will easily win VA, but by less than the 10 pts in 2020.
