Big Sky Predictions 9-19
Hard to believe, even for me, but we head into the third week of the season and I am a perfect 17-0 so far. Now is when things get tough as we head into conference play. Just four games involving conference teams, but three are inter-conference matchups. Montana State and Sacramento State are off this week, both getting ready for their conference openers next week. Here are the predictions for this week as I put my perfect record on the line.
ISU @ WSU---So I start out with what may be the easiest pick this week. The Wildcats have looked sharp against Mountain West teams, Wyoming and Colorado State, while the Bengals have not looked too great against Arizona State and Oklahoma. Both teams enter this game 0-2 which means someone will leave with their first win of the year. Thing is, the Bengals probably have played the toughest two teams, which really does not mean that much...WSU 51, ISU 10.
Southern Utah @ NAU---The only Bg Sky team playing this week that is not facing a fellow conference member. The Jacks looked impressive against Pac-10 Arizona and take on a pesky Southern Utah game that gave them all they could handle last year in Cedar City. Southern Utah thinks they could beat the Jacks this year and they probably could, if the game was not in Flagstaff...NAU 28, Southern Utah 17.
UNC @ EWU---Things have been pretty par for the course for the Eagles, take care of business against the DII and then take the money from Cal and go home. The Bears, on the other hand, got the win they needed and head to Cheney with some momentum. To win at EWU would be monumental for the Bears and set the tone for a great year. To come close would maybe not be big, but a step in the right direction. Take a step...EWU 24, UNC 17.
PSU @ UM---The Griz come in to this conference opener having won their first two games, and while they have not been dominant, nonetheless they are two wins. The Vikings have had moments where they look pretty good, but have wound up where they thought they would be at 1-1. Both teams rely on strong offensive performances, yet both offenses have appeared rather pathetic at times. This game could end up being an offensive shootout, or an ugly affair, depending on the play of both offenses. I prefer an offensive shootout...UM 38, PSU 34.

If anything, flip the scores between the EWU/UNC and the UM/PSU games. I'll go with...
ISU 17 @ WSU 42
SUU 28 @ NAU 34
UNC 28 @ EWU 35
PSU 17 @ UM 24
ISU 17 @ WSU 42
SUU 28 @ NAU 34
UNC 28 @ EWU 35
PSU 17 @ UM 24

If we can hold the Griz to just 24 points, I like our chances. Truth is, both teams are due for a breakout offensive game. I'll stay with the points.AZGrizFan wrote:38-34? Are you high?

Conversely, if we give UP 34 points, I don't see any WAY we win.

Glanville is still in charge of the defense. Your boys should have 30 in the first half alone.AZGrizFan wrote:JALMOND wrote:

What does Glanville's defenses and swiss cheese have in common? Big holes everywhere.

Weber could if they could put a stop to the turnovers that cost them points and the game at Colorado State.Wildcat Ryan wrote:I dont want to sound greedy, but I kinda hope Weber puts more than 51 points up on Idaho State

No kidding man, Im still fuming about that loss, I think Weber is angry right now, and they will take out thier anger on ISU, Weber needs to keep control and not turn it over and this game should be an easy win, but who knows.

Scream may have been closer than I was on the points, but I am still perfect (21-0), only because he had no love for UNC last week.JALMOND wrote:Hard to believe, even for me, but we head into the third week of the season and I am a perfect 17-0 so far. Re: Big Sky Predictions 9-19
Naw, I overrated San Diego. I picked SD to squeak it out, instead they choked. Gave UNC too much credit this week... if your turnover ratio is +4, chances are slim to none that you win the game... Weber State proved that to some extent the last two weeks.JALMOND wrote:Scream may have been closer than I was on the points, but I am still perfect (21-0), only because he had no love for UNC last week.JALMOND wrote:Hard to believe, even for me, but we head into the third week of the season and I am a perfect 17-0 so far.
