Same thing as farting, only chunkier.
Should we execute those who fart chunky?
Should "pull my finger" piss off the Pope?
It's really an indictment on society, on us all.

Joe, what do think about spontaneous abortion?

Hmmm. And I bet the states that would make it murder would be the bible totin' red states that LOVE their capital punishment.
Also, how fucked up woud it be if some states abortion was considered murder and in others it was legal (with restrictions). Somone living in northern Virginia would face a murder trial for having an abortion. Someone living 30 miles away in Maryland could visit their local pharmacy for morning after pills and have an abortion once a month with no repercussions.

Well, the assumption that some states would impose capital punishment for an abortion, or even call it murder, is assinine, but if that's the best argument you got, go with it.Skjellyfetti wrote:JoltinJoe wrote:

There were laws against abortion which existed prior to Roe. Not even the most conservative states treated it as "murder." Jail sentences for a few years was the standard penalty -- for the abortionist.

My friend recently experienced a spontaneos abortion. Can she sue God or the catholic church as the "real" representitives of god on earth?

Yes.
A spontaneous abortion happens spontaneously and without human fault. An abortion induced by an abortionist does not.
If you can master these facts, we'll promote you to second grade.

It's taking your belief that "life begins at conception" and trying to show you how legally ridiculous a notion that is. By your own admission... even the most conservative states did not consider abortion to be murder when it was illegal, right? So....... even the most conservative states saw a difference, morally, between killing a 2 week old fetus (without a heart beat or a brain) and an adult.

A one week old fetus, much less a sperm and egg joined 30 minutes ago, does not exhibit the characteristics of LIFE from 7th grade biology:

1. Cells - All living thinks have cells; cells are the building blocks of life.
2. Metabolism - All living things eat, drink, breathe and excrete.
3. Growth - All living thinks take in material from the environment to enlarge.
4. Reproduction - All living things are able to produce a copy of themselves.
5. Irritability - All living things are able to react to a change in their environment.
6. Adaptation - All living things are able to compete with each other for food and space to survive.
7. Movement - All living things are able to move.
