Now that you mention it, I do seem to remember several child molestation cases perpetrated by married heterosexual pedophiles.

In case you don't understand, homo = same, pedo = kid.

In any event, I have two boys in cub scouts, and while I haven't seen any obvious LGBT activity at the den meetings I've hosted yet, I did notice that some of the designs in the Rain Gutter Regatta were rather "gay".

I'll keep my eye out for ya and report any dubious activity. :thumb:
Not what I said, kalm, but have some fun with it. 8-)

But you should take a serious look at standing up for the liberty that's supposedly guaranteed all citizens.

The problem is that if someone in the military admits or is found to be gay, they are kicked out and lose all their benefits.

If it was anyone else, you'd all be screaming bloody murder.

And anyone who equates homosexuality with pedophilia is pretty fucked in the head. Because heterosexual people NEVER ever lay their hands on a child, do they?

I'm strongly inclined to believe (will have to look for stats later; I am going to bed here in a few) that it's heterosexuals who are more involved in those sorts of cases than homosexuals.

Stop being so repressed. What, you think the Big Gay Boogey Man is gonna getcha?

I don't have a dog in this fight...gays getting married, serving in the military, etc. isn't going to affect my life one way or another, BUT...to say you don't have the same rights I do is just 100% factually incorrect.

:twocents: DADT is in place for the gays own protection in the military. Lifting DADT would create some serious problems with hate crimes etc... within the ranks. DADT does not prohibit gays from serving it just limits their personality (flaming) if you will. Having served and retired with more than 20 years I can tell stories both good and bad about the gays that I encountered in my career. I'll give one example of a good and a bad gay Army scenario I encountered.

Good: A woman I served with back in Germany was a lesbian and was a top notch Army officer. She had a few year on me when I met her through direct support maintenance at a depot in Nuremburg. Fast forward 27 years later; she is a Major General at the pentagon right now and still an ass kicking Army officer :thumb:

Bad: Fort Campbell 5th Special Forces Group. One of our group leaders (male officer) one day was acting strangely. We just received a mission to deploy. His 1st such mission. All of the sudden he was openly gay and did not want to serve anymore. Acted out etc... flaming got kicked out. Fucked up the whole moral of the group  Escape goat for being a chicken shit and not wanting to deploy?? Really

Personally; I have a few gay friends/a family member on my wife's side who are a part of my life and I would not change them for the world. They are who they are and I love them the same. Actually, they are real stand up people who would not hurt anybody and I could count on them to have my best interests at heart. :coffee: These folks I've mentioned are for DADT and oppose Gay marriage.

With all that being said, I'm for keeping DADT and don't give a rat's ass about gay's getting married. If gay's want to fuck their selves with complicating a relationship with legal ramifications have at it. Last time I checked a power of attorney works for benefits just as well ;)

  All pedophiles must DIE and most are not gay :ohno:

I still don't get the premise that so many spend their time stewing about other peoples personal lives and they way they choose to live them, I will never understand that, and it will always lead to intolerance.

I could guess why folks feel they must attempt to mandate their own personal views of morality upon others, but it would serve no purpose other than to piss them off.

I like to spend my time living my life as I choose, and spend no time at all worrying about my neighbors personal activities unless it damages my family or my property. My neighbors know not to do that.

Get a life folks, by railing on what others choose to do in their relationships, in their bodies, in their minds, and in their associations, you are undoubtedly neglecting things within your own little world.

Minds are like parachutes, they only function when they are open.

What exactly is an "escape goat"? Is that like a Palestinian getaway vehicle, a goat you ride to freedom? Or maybe it's a goat that helps an escapee pass a bed-check and slip off in the night by voluntarily laying in his bunk for him and pulling the covers up over his horns? Whatever it is, I want to see it photoshopped by some industrious sort into the following, pronto:

I don't understand Obama's hesitation in doing this. He doesn't need Congress to make this happen - the original DADT was done via Executive Order after Congress then balked at it. I certainly understand it is far more permanent to go the Congressional route (well, not permanent, but harder to rescind) but he's got the power right now to change it and let Congress follow his lead. This has been one of the larger problems with Obama's term so far - he's not getting out in front of issues and shaping them - he's letting others do the heavy lifting for him and that's not worked out well so far.

I've got no problem with repealing this and allowing openly gay people to serve - and obviously Obama doesn't have a problem with it either. So just do it already - stop, for the lack of a better word, pussyfooting around. Being the President does come with a fair amount of power - use it.

As you already know, kalm, I DO consistently stand up for the liberty of every American, including gays, and I am obviously not trying to regulate dbj's life. Because I like and respect dbj, I also want him to be happy.

However, I refuse to accept hyper-partisan LGBT people in positions of authority and proselytizing among minors and youth organizations or in public elementary and middle schools, I reject spending one penny of taxpayer money on LGBT propaganda, I detest the LGBT lawsuits against organizations like the Boy Scouts, and I absolutely mistrust the LGBT lobby because they themselves fail to sufficiently draw the line between adult behaviors and child abuse.

It's about time. It's a ridiculous law, and something I actually appreciated when Obama campaigned on it. It's a shame he's waited a year. We'll see what actually happens.

Actually, Obama is being a lot smarter on this subject than anyone gives him credit for. You know full well that you can't "just do it," GF, as David Gergen reminded everyone on the Sunday talk shows. Laying the groundwork is exactly what SECDEF Robert Gates is doing at the Pentagon, with more study papers and focus groups on how to get it done than you can shake a stick at (not your stick, dbj).

Didn't anyone else notice that Gates applauded BO for the DADT line in the SOTU speech?!???

Doing away with DADT will happen, and it will be done properly.

It's not what they ARE, it's what they SAY they are.

What gays actually DO to stay in is "Don't ask and don't tell." What they DO to opt out is "tell."

Although not your words, I understand that you, dbjon and others believe this to be an unfair and unbearable burden.

Perhaps you meant to say, "Gays are not allowed in the military because of what they articulate..."
Right, which is what I said above, and what everyone know YT meant (except you, of course). So, explain to me how that is equality? If a hetero soldier can "articulate" that he is "hetero," but a "homo" cannot articulate that he is "homo"...how is that equal?

I've got no problem with repealing this and allowing openly gay people to serve - and obviously Obama doesn't have a problem with it either. So just do it already - stop, for the lack of a better word, pussyfooting around. Being the President does come with a fair amount of power - use it.
I agree, this was "low hanging fruit" he could have knocked out right away, and should have. However, I think he's more focused on having Congress do it, so his hands aren't as much on it. Just like the bi-partisan task force to work on the budget...put it on Congress, they don't do it...blame them.
