Perhaps the most outrageous piece of propaganda in the Gingrich/Forstchen article is their statement that "Lincoln was the first president to invite and socially greet a delegation of African-Americans into the White House." They say this to give their readers the impression that Lincoln was enlightened on the issue of race. He was not. He was as much a white supremacist as any man alive. Moreover, the purpose of the White House meeting with the delegation of African-Americans was not to meet and greet, but to urge these men to lead by example and self-deport themselves to Liberia in West Africa. It is all explained in Lincoln’s Selected Writings and Speeches, in the entry for August 14, 1862.
At this meeting Lincoln told the delegation of free black men that "You and we are different races. We have between us a broader difference than exists between almost any other two races . . . . This physical difference is a great disadvantage to us both . . . and affords a reason at least why we should be separated . . . . It is better for us both, therefore, to be separate." He then made his sales pitch for the men to deport themselves to Liberia, an offer that they wisely declined.
If you can't accept Lincolns own actions and words, then just ignore them and go about your business.Abraham Lincoln’s direct statements indicated his support for slavery; He defended slave owners’ right to own their property, saying that "when they remind us of their constitutional rights [to own slaves], I acknowledge them, not grudgingly but fully and fairly; and I would give them any legislation for the claiming of their fugitives" (in indicating support for the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850).

I disagree. Lots of important historians have different opinions on Lincoln. Some respect him and rate him as the greatest POTUS, some despise him. Both sides have done extensive research on him.
Why do you hate the constitution and Abe Lincoln so much?

I'm not going to look through 45204 of your posts to find it, but I KNOW you recently told KYJelly that his "hatred of America" oozes out of every one of his posts. Pretty ironic that you used him as an example of someone who makes those kinds of accusations, eh?AZGrizfan wrote:OK, D1B Jr. Find ONE post where I've said that.

So you hate Lincoln because he shared the predominant view towards colored people at the time?Ibanez wrote:If you can open your mind and accept facts CONTRARY to what you've learned in the 9th grade, then read below. Ever heard of Randy Weaver?

Randy Weaver was a freak who made his wife live in an outhouse during her menstrual cycle. But the parallel between his situation and killing the bad guys - trusting the government to get things right in the absence of due process is spot on and you know it.native wrote:Don't try to tell us that you actually give a rat's ass about Randy Weaver.kalm wrote:...So if the government claims it, it must be true?![]()

Your comparison is not spot on, either legally or morally. We are at war. We have deadly, organized enemies who advocate, orchestrate and engage in terrorist acts including the killing of American civilians.kalm wrote:Randy Weaver was a freak who made his wife live in an outhouse during her menstrual cycle.
