I guess my question is, would they be used between olympics? I would guess that the extensions to the Athens lines led to the new stadiums which are now vacant.dbackjon wrote:London is building new subway lines, new rail lines, etc.

"Construction of Metro Lines 2 and 3 began in November 1991 to decrease traffic congestion and clean up the environment by reducing Athens' smog level. Lines 2 and 3, constructed by Attiko Metro S.A. and operated by Attiko Metro Operations Company S.A. and known as red and blue lines respectively, were inaugurated in January 2000"

Forget both, Grizomatic. I'd MUCH rather see the title game in some place like Missoula. Of course, as much hype as the Missoula bid got, the NCAA will trash all such bids for the same bloody reason the NFL won't stage a Super Bowl in Green Bay or Buffalo: snow, or the perception of it. They want climes where there's a very good chance that it will be completely sunny, or at least nothing worse than a bit of rain. And that's completely wrong. What's wrong with bad-weather football? As far as I'm concerned, that's just a bit more fun, but nobody in charge cares about fun anymore.Grizo406 wrote:Having been to Chattanooga once, I fell in love with the place!
I think Chattanooga should considered for any/all future Olympics!
In your face, Frisco!

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Football is not meant to be played in the snow. It severly reduces the quality of play.SuperHornet wrote:Forget both, Grizomatic. I'd MUCH rather see the title game in some place like Missoula. We wait all year and play a pile a games to figure out the best two teams. I want those teams to show their skill and have a clean field to play on. It no fun watching the two best teams slide around in the snow while playing for a championship.
Re: A Permanent Olympic Site?
I don't want to take anything away from the 2003 Colgate squad (or Delaware's championship that year), but didn't Colgate upset some teams in some heavy snow that year? IIRC, they had a stud RB that they handed the ball off to a gazillion times in heavy snow to get to Chatty, and the Hens just exposed them on a clear field.Franks Tanks wrote:

Snow takes so much away from a speed/skillz team, as opposed to a power team.

Yes, Colgate beat the very talented and FAST FAU squad that demolished NAU in the Skydome the week before (and this after NAU beat the #1 team in the nation by 35 in the opening round).93henfan wrote:I don't want to take anything away from the 2003 Colgate squad (or Delaware's championship that year), but didn't Colgate upset some teams in some heavy snow that year? Colgate beat FAU in Florida - they didn't put a bid in to host the semifinal. Definitely no snow there.dbackjon wrote:Yes, Colgate beat the very talented and FAST FAU squad that demolished NAU in the Skydome the week before (and this after NAU beat the #1 team in the nation by 35 in the opening round).93henfan wrote:

IIRC, Western Illinois was a heavy snow game and UMass may have been as well.

You are correct. Colgate hosted UMass and WIU, then traveled to Ft Lauderdalekardplayer wrote:Colgate beat FAU in Florida - they didn't put a bid in to host the semifinal. Definitely no snow there.dbackjon wrote:

Yes. The WIU game was in heavy snow. I think it may have snowed for UMASS, but I dont recall the snow being very heavy.dbackjon wrote:You are correct. Colgate hosted UMass and WIU, then traveled to Ft Lauderdalekardplayer wrote:

I seem to recall UMass having a heck of a time even getting to Colgate that year because of the snow.Franks Tanks wrote:Yes. The WIU game was in heavy snow. I think it may have snowed for UMASS, but I dont recall the snow being very heavy.

Re: A Permanent Olympic Site?
Nah - that was just UMass whining about having to go on the road period. They never got past the initial anger of having to play a road game and it came up and bit them against Colgate. UMass wasn't far behind UD that year, and UD couldn't have stomped Colgate any more than they did - UMass just didn't take care of business in that first round game.89Hen wrote:I seem to recall UMass having a heck of a time even getting to Colgate that year because of the snow.Franks Tanks wrote:Yes.
