Kinda agree with this - heck, this story elicited little more than a chuckle here in the States - who was really outraged? If anything, it was the IOC and the Europe elite who have been smacking Canada since the Games began (the UK press has been at the forefront of the "Blame Canada" movement). Shame on you, Douche1Bag.
And for every rich Canuck that comes down here to have heart surgery, I bet you could find 100 poor Americans who go up there to get cheaper drugs because they can't afford them here.

And to be honest with you, I didn't even hear about this story until I read this thread. Seems like a joke to me. Sort of like the snowboarder with the medal. So what? I'd have behaved the same way at that age, probably would now. And the outrage over the snowboarder was coming from the IOC, not the U.S.
Anyway, I don't think it was much of a story, considering I didn't even see it anywhere before here. So no big deal.

Neither possesses the moral authority to determine (judge) whether any person chooses to drink a beer in celebration, smoke a cigarette, eat a Nathan's, drive an SUV, eat red meat, spray Roundup, have a fire in their fireplace, or drink from a garden hose.
And let me emphasize that fabrication of faux societal harm does not enable that authority.

Same as I feel about your performing cunnilingus on your wife when she has history of yeast infections. How about that "leg around the bedpost" maneuver you like? If it inflames your sciatic nerve, does government then have the "moral authority" to enforce a "missionary only" rule? Install cameras in your bedroom?
And when did it become media's duty to engineer social habits?
If govt. is left unchecked, they'll determine the air we exhale is a dangerous substance and attempt to regulate it.

What's even funnier about the attempt at this thread - I imagine to smear America - is that there's lots of speculation that the reason the IOC (not America) got so inflamed over this and the reason why the IOC (not America) demanded an apology was based in part on the IOC's possible push to eliminate women's hockey from the Olympics. Apparently, sports that are played by women and dominated by Canada and America are not really looked upon kindly by the male-heavy, Euro-centric IOC (i.e. see softball getting axed from the Games and see women's ski jumping not getting in, with the comment that "ski jumping is not suited to ladies' bodies").
So the US, which relative to the rest of the world really pushes and champions women's sports, gets the knock in this thread for carrying reports in the media of the IOC's harsh rebuke of the women hockey player's from Canada, nary a word is mentioned in this diatribe about how the IOC (not America) is the real reactionary agent in all of this. Those darn Euro-fat cats.
