One obvious point is pretty easy to understand. The federal government can kill people and keep the peace more effectively than private corporations, but little else that they touch becomes more useful, effective or efficient.

I wouldn't give them that much credit....that's why they hire Blackwater....they may kill people or keep the peace in a more responsible manner, but not a more effective manner if left to the devices of private industry...

I got to be there today when employees of a student loan gaurantee foundation were told they were about to be out of a job. Now the school is the gaurantor and it all falls on their shoulders...yeah I work in financial aid...and yeah life is about to get really bad for colleges and universities. We already audit over 50% of our students for Uncle Sam, now we have to process their loans for Uncle Sam....and I'm not a federal employee after performing those TWO jobs?

He did it again with this action. How many times can you go to that well before people start losing jobs because of it? He's taken away a significant portion of many, many financial institions' balance sheets with the stroke of a pen, while at the same time creating yet ANOTHER large, red-tape machine to keep the government coffers full. Anyone ever think that maybe the sharp increase in college tuition (439% increase since 1985) might be correlated to a greater amount of federal aid & gov't-backed loans made available to a larger cross-section of applicants during same time period? I couldn't find the data for the loans...anybody know the figures?
