The Valdez wasn't as bad as people thought it would be after just 2 years or so.

Anyone trying to say the gulf is fucked for YEARS is a moron because there is nothing to compare this too. The closest thing is the Valdez but I believe that was a different type of oil, in a different climate, and different quantities.


The pure quantity may be enough to have negative effects for a couple years, but if the ecosystem has the same resiliency as it did in Alaska the long term effects may be shorter than longer.

Don't know where you got that estimate, but other estimates have it at around 5 million barrels. And the Persian Gulf does have an ecosystem that did recover from the spill.
