The only thats comparable between Stras and Baldy is that they can both blow a 100, other than that 15-1 shits on anybody in the league. No doubt Stras will be good, I just hate unbelievable hype job ESPN did on him.UNHWildCats wrote:well in the NL Strasburg compares to him right now and in the AL a few guys outcompare them both right now.Jibjab wrote:

And Strasburg has had 1 bad game against Atlanta and 3 er over 6+ innings with 7 Ks is hardly a bad game.

only cause people were saying he was better then some all time greats. Is Ubaldo a very very good pitcher? Yes? Is he better then 1999-2000 Pedro? Wait, are you actually trying to compare Clay Buchholz to Ubaldo Jimenez???UNHWildCats wrote:Buchholz & Lester to name twoMrTitleist wrote:What the hell are you smoking? The only comparison between those two is that they're right-handed pitchers. Buchholz couldn't carry Ubaldo's jock strap.

You don't have stats to back anything up. Ubaldo leads both in wins, ERA, WHIP, CG, 2nd to Lester in walks and Ks. What stats?

You can't compare complete games or innings pitched between AL & NL pitchers unless there is a HUGE margin because pitchers have to bat in the NL, which means they get pinch hit for in late and close situations.MrTitleist wrote:You don't have stats to back anything up. Unless your name is Mike Hampton. Then you become a pinch hitter and runner.
But you make a point.. one more reason why NL pitchers are tougher.

Gee,
Another BAD day for Jimenez...............If I remember right, I think someone with a moniker much the same as mine said that he'd have a much tougher 2nd and 3rd trip through the teams. Didn't even get any outs in the 3rd today before being pulled. Has a 10.0 ERA last 3 games.

Man Rockies have sucked on the road, they definitely need to step their road game up.

Jimenez has definitely been struggling of late. I also don't think he has had a lot of success against the Phillies so far in his career.VictorG wrote:Gee,

After watching todays game, I wonder if there isn't something wrong with him.
Re: Chasing History: Ubaldo Jimenez Watch
I don't think there's anything majorly wrong with him, because his velocity was still good, hit 98-99 a few times. He's just lost command off all his pitches, so that would point to something up with his mechanics that might need to be tweaked. Plus the Roxs have been horrible on the road this year doesn't help either.

Re: Chasing History: Ubaldo Jimenez Watch
Lost command of his pitches or are the batters being more patient. Taking a few more pitches than the 1st or 2nd time they saw him earlier in the year. Hitters adjust to pitchers throughout the year and the pitchers also need to adjust. Jimenez may have to change things up a bit to get back on track.Jibjab wrote:I don't think there's anything majorly wrong with him, because his velocity was still good, hit 98-99 a few times. Didn't show a breaking ball at all today & couldn't get his fastball over. When he did it got hit around. Maybe the Phils are starting to hit again.

Re: Chasing History: Ubaldo Jimenez Watch
Just checked today's box score. 6 earned runs in 2 innings. He escaped a basses loaded situation in the 2nd and all runs came in the 3rd when he couldn't get an out. 6 walks as well.

Re: Chasing History: Ubaldo Jimenez Watch
Rockies are REALLY struggling right now.. no one on the pitching staff is throwing real well.. this is a common Rockies problem in July. Not only are they not pitching, but they're not hitting. The team is hitting under .200 since the All-Star break. The bats need to wake up and help these pitchers out.. hopefully with Tulo coming back on Wednesday the team will get a little jumpstart.

Both, Philly has always been a patient hitting ball club. That's one thing that I was impressed with them last year in the playoff against Colorado, how patient they were at the plate and how good of an eye they had.
Title, I agree, getting Tulo back should provide a spark. Just hope this road trip doesn't fatigue them too much, 3 day games in a row in that Philly heat and humidity.
