What are some things about "the other party" that you agree with? What are some actions or accomplishments of your opposing faction that you found to be beneficial, inspiring, or otherwise interesting and useful?
Things that should be posted here...
- "I really like Obama's stance on small business" - Native
- "I thought G.W. Bush was great for Education" - houndawg
(I don't expect either of these to be true, just giving examples)
(Also, you can go as far back into history as you want. Reagan, JFK, FDR, etc.)
Things that shouldn't be posted here (but likely will be anyways)
- "I think Kerry losing the election was great for America" - Native
- "I hate that fvcker Bush" - houndawg
Thought this would be fun to see what happens here. That, or no one will post, and this will sink down the page.

Thanks for this thread, TTL! But if you think I never say good things about the opposition, you are not paying attention!
In any case, I will take the bait! I am proud of the fact America elected a black President!

I am happy that the President is the father of a successful and apparently happy, functional, nuclear family!

I am relieved that the President has wisely retained so many of the Bush war policies that he previously condemned.

I am not yet willing to say that I think the President has genuinely reached across the aisle or is anywhere close to the center, but I am pleased that the President has recently toned down his anti-American and anti-Republican rhetoric and accepted a few (inevitable) comprises such as extension of the Bush tax cuts.

I thought the President had a great interview with O'Reilly in which he actually praised the American people and came off as a nice and reasonable guy.
Even though it was only a hypothetical, I take your point about Obama's supposed friendliness towards small business, TTL.

In this case, however, I strongly disagree that Obama's narrowly targeted policies are good for any business, let alone small business. His efforts to transform society are costly, intrusive, unsustainable and bad for business. Let's say I am a great hunting dog and bring home an elk. You really think I should be grateful when all I get to keep is some hamburger and a bone to gnaw on? ...and if I am a small business I get to keep an extra bone?
I am grateful that Kennedy reduced taxes.
I am thankful that Clinton accepted and even co-opted Republican ideas after the 1994 election.
I think Jimmy carter is a nice man and one of the best ex-Presidents in history.
I like Joe Manchin and wish he would switch parties.

Sorry, but it was reeeaaallly great for America that Kerry lost. There is a biiiiig difference between "it's good for America that 'x' lost" and "I hate that fvcker 'x'!" I do NOT hate that fvcker Kerry.
