Do you have any clue, do you? Do you know which country holds a HUGE portion of our debt? JAPAN. As was stated above, all they'd have to do is call in that debt - and we'd be more **** than Snooki during Fleet Week.
Setting aside that very practical consideration, is this:
We've just watched a first world superpower get turned in to a third world country in some places by an act of nature. A calamity on a scale so large, that it will become the standard by which **** up situations are measured for a generation. When your friend is brought to their knees in that way, you don't look at them and say "tough ****, I've got a few problems of my own." You nut the **** up and help - because that's what a man does. You help them because they helped you... and not that long ago. In the wake of 9-11 and Katrina - the Japanese proved nothing but steadfast allies - helping however and wherever they could. As recently as last summer - the Japanese sent experts and technology to help **** the situation the Gulf of Mexico - because that's what allies do.
It's fortunate we don't have "certified geniuses" like you running things. For all of their squabbling, for all of their bickering - you notice what isn't happening right now in Washington? Nobody is advocating what you are. Because what you're advocating is simply retarded. Instead - we're showing the world that when we act as a force in this world, far more often than not, we act as a force for good - and we do so without expectation of repayment, we do so because we still are the leaders of the free world and the most powerful nation on earth - and because we recognize that such a position carries with it responsibilities.
In times of crisis, leaders step up and lead - cowards shirk their responsibility to their fellow man.![]()

TTBF for Nobel Peace Prize! "At least he earned it!" (cough, cough)
My favorite debate was when the US recognized "red" China as the legitimate government of China. After Jane speaks in favor of this move in the name of humanism (but what do you know about being human, Dan?), Akroyd says: "Jane, you ignorant slut. The United States of America cannot run its foreign policy the way you run your personal life, jumping from bed to bed with whatever partner suits us at that moment." Classic.
