There is no “dilemma”, just people who refuse to lose the high school mentality that has plagued our school for decades. There are also no “feelings of inferiority” or “attempt validate App's existence within college football,” just a desire to see ASU’s program follow a natural progression and compete at a higher level. Isn't it a long held fact that the visiting team has one sideline (the visitors side), and the home team has their sideline (the home side)?
WTF?
I think every team has a home side/visitor side don't they? I know every game I've ever been to there has been one. What kind of a tool would you have to be to make that insignificant point some bone of contention?
That's some real dumb ass ****.

I am not sure how App St has performed in non-football sports in the last few years BUT they have manned up in their own division for football and are a consistent winner. They also fill their stadium. I am not sure how their market and facilities will compare to other CUSA schools but an affiliation with CUSA would do nothing but help them.
And what "western" team would CUSA add as I doubt we would stop at 13.

What? The importance of referencing a stadium side for person's not familiar with our stadium by home or visitor....a stadium, mind you, that is currently not enclosed and does, in fact, have two distinct sides? Yep, that's a problem. Tell you what, I'll start referring to the sides by east & west the day we hoist an FCS NC banner won by a different recruiting class.AppMan wrote:Not understanding the importance of it IS the problem.Appaholic wrote:

Re: Appalachian State to CUSA?
The very nature of the home / visitor's side verbiage exudes a high school image of the program. Whenever the new deck was built on the east side we decided to move over there. Someone asked why I would move to the "visitor's side". Told them I didn't realize those seats were being built for visiting fans and the people already sitting in the lower level dressed in Black and Gold were cheering for the visiting teams. Having been to nearly 50 1-AA / FCS stadiums over the years I can attest most actually do have a visitor's side, but that not the case at KBS.Appaholic wrote:What? Keys are that they seem to be aiming at current FBS schools, not FCS schools in the area like App St, Charlotte, GA State, etc. Also hinting they aren't looking north (MAC, Temple, etc). As CUSA schools are not an option (downgrade), really only leaves LA Tech and NMSU

With the WAC in the state it is and losing member after member it wouldnt surprise me if La-Tech bolted for the Sunbelt in search of greener pastures . However I dont think this would be a bad move, no Idea why they are in the WAC in the first place.collegesportsinfo wrote:I posted a new thread in the Other Sports section since it seems appropriate there...since they reportedly aren't interested in FCS upgrades.

Right on, Jon. Not to mention the WAC was pulling in good money for LA Tech, especially with the Boise St./Hawaii BCS revenue. That is no more. SB is better than WAC. Just too bad the SB couldn't "trade" UALR to WAC for NMSU and LA Tech for an even 12/12.

I do hope you realize while making your "valid point" you inadvertently did a masterful job of showing why the the Home / Visitor side terminology is so obviously inappropriate. Your reference picture clearly shows the stands in question filled with Black and Gold clad fans and the ASU band.
BTW, it is spelled apparently not apparantly.
Re: Appalachian State to CUSA?
I think I like the view from the visitor's side - you get a really good view of the press box on the home side.

Good points, but didnt Montana build their facilities up to be the big fish in the small pond? This opportunity is better though, so its more likely these are strong signals.SmallCollegeFBFan wrote:I agree with those reporting the rumors. I think it's happening. 162 Louisiana-Lafayette 52.05
165 Western Kentucky 51.31
172 New Mexico State 50.18
With the top 4 WAC teams, the WAC is clearly superior to the Sun Belt. Without them, it is pretty much a wash. Bottom 5 WAC pretty much comparable top to bottom with the Sub Belt.
