JBB wrote:I'm sure UND is very proud of their record against NDSU. It is their greatest achievement in sports. As many of you are now claiming just a win or two over NDSU is a huge deal. Many of you know a win over NDSU is the biggest win in your programs history. But UND did quit the series and it is really back there in time when we last played, but after all if the past counts the dynasty that NDSU built in D2 counts. NDSU was the greatest football Dynasty in the history of college football.

Now the BISON appear to be breaking away from the pack in the MVFC and again joining the elite group at the top of the division. Certainly some fans will continue to brag about their team even though the wins were to a great extent "circumstantial", but thats the way they are. :ohno:

The difference between regional programs like UNI and to some extent SIU (more local and they are really down) is their inability to compete at the national level. Good local and regional rural teams, sure, but little interest beyond that. There are a lot of teams like that in the BSC, including EWU. One big program stands out, like NDSU, on a national scale. Other than that there isnt much beyond the regional and of course local interest for the BSC.

Thats part of the reason this game is of such keen national interest. Its going to be a chance for both clubs to show case their programs in the national spot light and for NDSU to show case the prestigious venue: The Fabulous Fargo Dome. A visit around the beautiful NDSU campus is also advised. The serene beauty will bring joy to anyone, even some of you sick bastards!
JBB, since you appear to be some kind of dumbass, I thought I'd help you out.

1. UND's greatest achievement in sports are their National Championships in Hockey, and National Championship in Football.

2. You are the only one that purports beating ndsu is a huge deal. It's not. Almost everyone in the 4th best conference has done it, half of them on an annual basis. Beating ndsu is a regular occurrence for many schools, and for those in other conferences, it's nothing special. Not even close to the biggest win in any program's history.

3. Of course history counts. ndsu may have championships as D2, but yet they still lost to UND on a regular basis, and all-time have a losing record.

4.   ndsu isn't even close to being "the greatest football dynasty in the history of college football."
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not to mention D-III Mount Union has 10 National Championships between 1993 and 2008. :coffee:

5. There is no national interest in NDSU vs. Laffytaffy. :coffee:

We are just going to have to agree to disagree, thats all.

The Lafayette game is already posted and a matter of record here on the national board. Its a game of national interest.

Wait until EWU plays at USD. They are a Dakota Big 3 member you know? Duh.

JBB wrote:I think its funny how D2 is suddenly important when it comes to NDSU. If you are going to look at the recent UND D2 record vs. NDSU before UND quit, for the third time, in 2003, you have to accept the entire legacy of the NDSU BISON and D2 football. You will also have to acknowledge that NDSU is a solid 25-16 vs. old D2 rival UND since 1965.
Why stop at 1965? Lets indeed look at the ENTIRE LEGACY of NDSU Bison versus the Fighting Sioux of UND. Indeed, not only has UND won 10 of the past 13, YOU will also have to acknowledge (although we all know you WON'T) that UND holds the all-time series lead against their food source across the state, winning 62 and losing just 45 since the series was first played in 1894 (or was that 1094, JBB?) 8-) 8-) 8-) In fact, you strategically chose 1965 for a reason...prior to that year, NDSU was a pathetic 20-47 against their cross state rivals....but is it really a rivalry when both historical and recent history suggests they **** OWN you? :coffee: :coffee:
Some fans choose to use the 60's when comparing the two schools because 1960 was the end of the North Dakota Agricultural College (NDAC) and the beginning of NDSU. Up until 1960 NDAC was a tiny school that was grossly under funded by the state and was nearly shut down in the late 30's. UND was the only university in the state and enjoyed the lions share of state funds and student interest. For comparision sake from 1883-1960 UND had just over 50,000 alum, from 1890-1960 NDAC had just over 9,000. After 1960 NDSU started to recieve increased funding and began expanding. Student enrollment soared and the athletic programs started improving drastically.

History tells us that UND used to beat the pulp out of NDAC. It also tells us that things balanced out once NDAC became a university. Both schools have had their time in the spot light. NDSU enjoyed a 12 game win streak right before UND returned the favor by winning 10 of the last 13 like you have mentioned. UND dominated the series 42-20 prior to 1960 and have gone 20-25 vs. NDSU since.

You disagree with me because you don't want to admit the truth, whereas I disagree with you because you are factually wrong. Posting a thread on a national board does not make the game have national interest. No one except ndsu and Laffytaffy fans will care about this game. Unless the prairie cows lose, in which case everyone will care... because they'll want to laugh at the poor dumb idiots like you. You're nothing more than a Lafayette Bitch. :thumb:

There's no such thing as the "Dakota Big 3," it's a moniker you made up out of spite toward UND because they own ndsu in football. EWU will beat USD handily, it will be nothing special. EWU @ UW, EWU @ UM, and MSU @ EWU are big games.

The Lafayette @ NDSU game has national interest. The time you spend trying to rebut that fact is evidence. I have laid out the reasons in this thread. You have offered nothing except your uniformed opinion as evidence to the contrary.

The Dakota Big 3 is alive and well thank-you. You may beat USD sure, but you might lose too. Its the not score Im talking about. Its the kind of attention the game will get in the Dakotas because it is a "Big 3" game.

The Big 3 Dakota schools are the big schools that compete in the same conferences, for the same titles, for the same rivalries and bragging rights we all played for in the old NCC. Some of the old NCC schools have moved on and are no longer in that situation. One has moved west and is no longer part of the Dakota scene.

EWU and other schools like them are secondary regional/local rural schools. The Big Schools like NDSU play in a national spotlight. 5,000 fans at a big game is fun, and kind of crazy sometimes, but it is not a crowd that shouts we are of national importance. The EWU big games aren big because EWU is playing. They are big because of who they are playing. Get It? A crowd of 19,000 is a little different. Its going to be one aspect that Lafayette is going to have to prepare for: THE TWELFTH MAN

This game is big because Lafayette is playing @ NDSU BISON. Its NDSU, its position in the polls, its reputation, traditions, big loud crowds, great tailgating, scheduling model etc that make every game at the Fabulous Fargo Dome big and of national interest. I know UNI is already looking at their date in Fargo. Dont get ahead of yourselves now! It is certainly their biggest game of the year.

I have spent virtually no time exposing you to be the dumbass Lafayette Bitch you are because it's pretty obvious. If this game were of national interest, somebody, anybody other than you would also be hyping it up. You are the only that thinks it's a big game. It's not. Saying this game is of national interest because NDSU is ranked is like saying EWU vs. Idaho State is of national interest. It's not. You're a dumbass, particularly dumb dumbass. You make regular dumbasses look smart.

USD will be trounced by EWU. It is not a big game either... perhaps only regionally to USD fans, but that's it. And it's big to them because they get to play the National Champs. :coffee:

Where have you been? Everybody is talking about it around here. You spend a lot of your time trying to convince everyone this isnt a big game. Its a big deal. True its a little early for the rest of the country to be picking up on this, but it is definitely out there.

Big Dakota 3 my boy! Even if you do win, you dont get anything. Same for Lafayette. The Big 3 Dakota schools play a "closed loop" round-robin.

I don't even see a thread on bisonville about this game so..........
ESPN conversation for this game has 2 comments compared to the MSU vs. Utah thread w/over 300.

NBC TV: State-wide NDSU broadcasting network. Naturally its nationwide via the internet and as you all know it will be one of the biggest attended games in the country.

Get with the program. I have detailed reason after reason why this game is on the "National Radar". National interest in The BISON as one of the top programs in the country is in no small part helping this game reach all corners of the country.

An average reader will probably not notice a UND or UNA score but they will notice the NDSU BISON score. Ranked teams are what we like to call "spotlight squads". They play in "spotlight games".
