Although this is true, it was back in the D2 days so they don't count anymore right? Like any national championships won in the D2 level. If you consider head to head record making them better, you must take account of national championships. In that case NDSU>UND :thumb:

The only way you can actually make a case is when we start playing again at the FCS level. Until then its only smack talk and opinions.

Actually DI football championships it would look like this UND=NDSU, they both have zero. As far as transition records it would be NDSU > UND. But you are right it is only smack until we play which will happen it is almost a done deal according to our AD. It wil be every other year and it will start probably at the midpoint of this decade.

Exactly  I hope they get it settled asap. It's been WAY too long. It was nice to get basketball games back, but NOTHING compares to NDSU/UND football games.

Thats for sure!! Look at the attendance in basketball and volleyball. Both Fargodome and Alerus Center will definately be rocking for football. Its possible the next time they could meet would be next year in the playoffs, wouldn't that be a "hello stranger' of a game. 2 rival teams haven't played each other since '03 meeting in the playoffs (more than likely at the Fargodome), it would be a game like no other.

Since moving up UND has failed to beat any Dakota Big 3 team and some they have refused to play. I think they may have slipped by USD early in the transition but USD had not ascended to Dakota Big 3 Status. Since being admitted USD has beaten both Minnesota Gophers and UND.

UND has a terrible football team. Anybody saying any different hasnt looked at the record over the past 4 or 5 years. Weak schedules, poor play, terrible recruiting, questionable coaching, losses to lower division teams, it hasnt been pretty. Of course, and they will readily admit, its not their primary sport on campus. Why they add on campus Ill never know, but they do.

NDSU of course stormed out of the gate with the the big wins over Central Mich and Ball State. Went 1-1 with the Gophers and beat Kansas. They have been ranked #1 on several different occasions. They went deep into the playoffs last year and are now recognized as one of the best teams in the country, in the Spotlight with the game at TCF stadium Tomorrow.

UND is hosting NAIA/D2? member Black HIlls State in one of their many lower division games this season.

UND did have a press conference stating they would not be playing us anymore, once we announced we were going D1 though. I would sum up the rivalry like this and I think most Sioux and Bison fans would say the same.......We hated each other, but we respected each other.
UND AD Brian Faison announced that the NDSU rival will be back but every other year its "almost a done deal". Although it won't be til 2013 or later.
 Yea right! Brian Faison   When is the Hawaii game again?

I can understand now how excited and proud the UND fans are when they do beat UM Gophers in hockey. Hockey is a minor sport but exciting and fun for some fans.

But now that the NDSU BISON Dominate the Big 10 charter member BCS/FBS competitor Gophers in The Major sport of football I would ask them to try and understabd how happy BISON fans are! :thumb:

First JBB: Since you think the Big 3 now includes USD as of 2010 (your USD over UND in football reference), how did USD do against UND in basketball....0-3 inlcuding a loss in the GWC tournament which was won by the Elite Dakota 1.

Womens BBall UND went 1-1 vs USD. Volleyball including this season (1-0 vs NDSU), UND is 6-1 vs the Big 3. Football UND is 0-2 (both games last year). As for us having a terrible team just look at our standings...3-8 last year our first losing season since 2002!!!!!!!!!! NDSU jumped out of the gate into 6-5 and 3-8 seasons. What a jump!!!! 5 years ago was 2006...UND lost in the quarterfinals in the DII playoffs..oh yeah we did beat Northern Iowa that year. When was the last time NDSU beat UNI at the UNI Dome? 4 years ago we lost in the 2nd round of the DII playoffs that year we beat FCS Southern Utah 37-10. Back to back FCS wins....while in DII did NDSU do that?? Poor scheduling? Concordia-St.Paul? St. Francis? Cent Conn St? Wagner? Morgan St? Yep those are powerhouses. Thats right 1 of your 3 win season was against Wagner. 2009 FCS wins.....UND 5...NDSU 3!!!!

Wanna be Big Dakota 3 much Darell?

UND didnt get the naming issue and you will never understand this issue because it deals with the higher principals governing orderly and productive lives. These principals seem beyond most in the UND bunch and I hold out the 50+ year fight with the Tribes and later the NCAA that UND was unable to resolve as more compelling evidnece they dont get it.

Maybe you can understand it this way:

The Dakota Big 3 are celebrating the NCC 2.0. Get in now Darell? 8-)

Now UND plays out west some place. UNDs Brian Faison was just bragging UND might get an OOC game on the big stage here in North Dakota at the insanely popular Prestigious Fabulous Fargo Dome. What excitement that would be for him and what fun for the UND kids to get to travel all the way down South to Fargo! What a trill. I hope, for the sake of the kids playing up at UND, that Faison isnt just blowing smoke like the Big Hawaii game UND was going to play a frew years back. Good Luck!

I knew that would work. Mentioning the old NCC brought out your scorn for all things Dakota. UND despises the traditions and heritage that the Dakota Big 3 are celebrating. They heep scorn on them. Do you get it now, and you do undertand that the jr wing of the old NCC, UND and UNC, will be comfy down at the bottom of that league out west someplace!

Just like that Darell. NDSU and SDSU move on, we asked the entire NCC to move with us. The Mighty Dakota Land Grants even waited a year. USD was all in too, but not UND. first they quit playing NDSU. Then they said they were committed to D2 and the NCC. Then UND quit them too.!

No UND is not in the Dakota Big 3, nor are they a rival of NDSU. They are simply out west someplace with UNC!

We are in a conference that SDSU and NDSU wanted in and the Big Sky said...NO!!!! Even USD could have gotten in, so that should say something for the SU's. Well at least 1 SU can get into a conference on their own..and its not NDSU.

Of course Darell. The difference is, and you just cant grasp this can you, NDSU and SDSU, The Mighty Dakota Landgrants, did it together as a team from the Dakotas. Later we enlisted USD and UND went west someplace. The rivalry ended when UND quit, now the Dakota Big 3 live on!!!

NDSU can't do anything on their own. They are a follower. UNC goes to the Big Sky NDSU better try and when the Big Sky says no, SDSU takes the lead and goes to the MVFC NDSU not invited until SDSU said if you take us you have to take our little sister NDSU too. Big Sky said UND come join and you can bring your little brother USD too, but little brother wanted to go to the MVFC to be with their counterpart SDSU....UND was not invited to the MVFC party so UND said screw you we have our own powerhouse conference in all sports unlike the  Summit

Rivalry quit when the SU's left. Tell me why USD quit the rivalry with SDSU? Could it be unfair ground?

shut this thread down.

NDSU belongs with the FBS teams, UNI, SDSU, MINNESOTA are our rivals in EVERY SPORT.

we brought 20,000+ to TCF and the twin cities area, we travel well, we fill the fargodome with any team, its over you losers.

und isnt a rival, its just douchebags like darrel with small penises that try and ride our coattails, we are over them.

PS.. programs are NIGHT and day.

I took this from another board:

UND: (currently in year 4 - i think)

Games played to date: 36
overall record during transition: 17-19 (0.4722)

Record by division -
FCS: 10-13 (0.4348)
FBS: 0-5 (0.000)
DII: 4-0 (1.000)
DIII/NAIA: 3-1 (.750 - hehe)

*It is worth noting that in their 2nd year of transition (09-10) they got beat by Sioux Falls of the NAIA, but they also played another NAIA school that year in Southern Oregon and only squeaked out a 6 point win at home.

---------------------------------------------

NDSU (completed 5 year transition)

Games played: 54
overall record during transition: 41-13 (0.7592)

Record by division -
FCS: 35-11 (0.7609)
FBS: 3-2 (0.6000)
DII: 2-0 (1.0000)
DIII/NAIA (1-0)

*NDSU had 30 FCS wins already through week 4 of their 4th year of transition. I would say there is no comparison.
