By the way good luck to the Flames this afternoon. Want you to win and no more injuries. Want to see both teams at 100% health wise on the Nov. 19thand fingers crossed on mother nature. Last week was a horror show!

Re: The road to the Big South Autobid
Question, while I like to believe Liberty will in fact win the Big South would the Big South get two teams in if Liberty loses to SBU?Seawolf97 wrote:Our running game has been very good this season and now we have mobile QB who can throw. Essington is the biggest surprise this season. I wish we had started him against UTEP or Brown. Coulter was injured in June and continued to play maybe at 75-80 % early on. He is a tough kid with smarts -on his way to Med School in the spring.
The SBU - Liberty matchup couldn't have been scripted better .

Im assuming that you meant LU (aka Liberty in this case), but I really think that the Seawolves probably wouldnt make it due to having zero quality wins.

yeah obviously I meant Liberty. I wish there was a way a team could lose to itself.bjtheflamesfan wrote:Im assuming that you meant LU (aka Liberty in this case), but I really think that the Seawolves probably wouldnt make it due to having zero quality wins.
Anyway does the Big South not have an autobid? Because if SBU beats Liberty and gets the Autobid, I'd like to believe two teams from the BSC would get in....

Re: The road to the Big South Autobid
The Big South does have an autobid and itll be the first time someone other than CCU will be going to the show. With Stony Brook and LU winning today, no matter what happens next week, the game on Long Island will be for the automatic bid.
As far as two Big South teams getting in, itd take some real crazy goings on in the next couple weeks for a scenario where Stony Brook and Liberty BOTH get into the playoffs

Re: The road to the Big South Autobid
Neither Stony Brook nor Liberty can get to seven Division I wins without winning on Nov. 19. So the answer in short is no.

No, what I'm saying is that previous years results mean very little and that Stony Brook's running game has looked better this year.SuperHornet wrote:So what you're saying is that 2009 stats are more germane to this month's game than 2010 stats?oceandogs wrote:
Yeah but in 2009 SBU ran for 248 yards and 4 td's against Liberty. I haven't seen anyone shut down Stony Brook's running game all season which was not the case last year. Stony Brook has even ran the ball effectively when they have abandoned the pass all together (Lafayette where Coulter was playing on a torn acl and Coastal in the nor'easter). It has honestly been remarkable how effective Stony Brook has been running the ball regardless of how many players opposing teams put in the box. I would be shocked to see Stony Brook put up running numbers similar to those from Lynchburg last year.
But Stony Brook still has two more games before the 19th...
Re: The road to the Big South Autobid
SBU is going to have a great chance to win. LU has flipped the switch "off" the past couple weeks. Poor tackling, poor execution on offense.
LU is perfectly capable of winning. Just not sure we will.

Re: The road to the Big South Autobid
The last two Liberty games have not been showing much of the team. But again, Liberty has two weeks off to get their game together!!! I know they will come out hard after that Bye week. It will be a good deserved break for the Flames who have played all season long without rest.

At this point I would be happy with a win over Presby. I hate being skunked in anything.

You do remember what happened the last time you said that right? (For the record I do NOT predict a blowout in either direction)ToTheLeft wrote:SBU is going to have a great chance to win. LU has flipped the switch "off" the past couple weeks. Poor tackling, poor execution on offense.

TTL, I also see this game being fairly close and coming down to who makes fewer mistakes/TOs. I also feel we will be able to limit their run game with Maysonette and force them to throw more. I think that will be Liberty and I say 38/28 LU until I change my mind on the score.

Re: The road to the Big South Autobid
As I said, I dont have a problem admitting that my predictions are wrong...but it seems with you on the other hand, that getting you to admit youre wrong is about on par with pulling teeth. If you admitted that you were wrong, and gave props when they were due (and not backhanded ones either with qualifications or some other sort of thing), I wouldnt say anything.ToTheLeft wrote:You're wrong all the time, too.bjtheflamesfan wrote:

Ah who cares? Both of you want LU to win on Long Island, so MOVE ON. Back to discussing football.

Chirp Chirp chirp......
So SBU fans. Any chance you pick up a meaningless loss tomorrow? I mean the team will likely call a vanilla game and be looking to the 19th.

NOO. A lost would be devastating even if its "meaningless". No one wants to loose. Why did Liberty choose to win all of its game? no game is meaningless. We gotta win tomorrow and treat it as any game...Knucklehead wrote:Chirp Chirp chirp......

I'm sure we will play this to win plain vanilla or not. My only concern is injuries as always but I expect a W by days end.

Six turnovers for Gardner-Webb. Not like Stony Brook wasn't dominant, but that certainly helped.
And for once, there will be no shared championship in this league. Playoffs begin next week. Should be a lot of fun.

Lol...seriously... Is that what you point out of the game? what a joke. Stony Brook's defense largely cause those TO and Our offense played even better.Chris Lang wrote:Six turnovers for Gardner-Webb. Not like Stony Brook wasn't dominant, but that certainly helped.

76-28 can't be justified solely on six TO and there was definitely a whole lot more that came from SB for such outcome to happen.
SB VS LU is going to be one good game!

Re: The road to the Big South Autobid
I don't think he pointed out the 6 turnovers to suggest that that's the only reason Stony Brook won. To hang up 76 points is kind of obnoxious and only happened because Gardner Webb fell apart in the 4th quarter turning the ball over 4 times and giving up something like 150 yards rushing while Stony Brook was trying to run out the clock. I think it was an impressive performance by Stony Brook, but the only reason Stony Brook or any team in that kind of situation would put that many points is if the opposing team has a melt down like GW.SeawolvesFan90 wrote:Lol...seriously...
