Just as in a literal context if one reads the book of genesis one can conclude that the bible says that the world was created in 6 literal days, one can conclude that pi=3 or that the equations to find circles is C=3D.

You remind me of a student I have this semester. Says something wrong in class, is politely shown his mistake but refuses to give up, then gets smart-alecky. And the only way to shut up him is to embarrass him. :ohno:
Really, I'm thinking the exact same of you.

Your failure to answer my question of earlier is fortified evidence of that fact at this point.

One last try:

If the bible says that the diameter of a circle is 10 units while the circumference of the same circle is 30 of the same units and one interprets the bible in a literal context, knowing that the equation that the circumference of a circle is equal to pi multiplied times the diameter, does one inescapably conclude that either pi is equal to 3 or that the equation of which to reach the numerical values of circles is wrong?

Sure did, Joe.

While you were taking religion classes and attending chapel, I learned it's wrong to rape children then lie about it and cover it up. I learned that those who defend atrocities and crimes are morally bankrupt.

I also lived one of your dreams and played sports in college. Team sports, too. Learned not to take myself too seriously, cuz there was always fellow team members there to knock you back down to reality. Learned to cooperate and be humble. All shit you obviously never learned, you arrogant nurd turd.

Just wow  I mean there's really not much more I can say other than you've helped to prove my point tremendously. It's a simple yes or no question, I'm not saying you believe it or Catholics believe it, or anything, I'm just driving home the point I've tried to drive home for this whole thread.

He's a spoiled, only child-type asshole who would kill his children just to appear to win a biblical argument on a football message board.

Scumbag lawyer who lies and employs every logical fallacy in the book to distract.

Oh, so firstly it was a completely 100% correct measurement, but then when it was revealed that units are consistent measurements and the numbers still don't add up, the point of the passage changes. Now granted, I understand that the point of the passage was never measurements, but if the bible is infallible it wouldn't make such a dumb mistake. My point is, you backpedal quite fast from "it's correct" to "that's not the point of the passage!"
I think Joe is Catholic. If so he doesn't look at the Bible as a literally true history of things anyway. At least that's how I was raised when I was raised in a Catholic family. Catholics do not look at the Bible like certain fundamentalist Protestant churches do.

BTW I don't think Inhofe was saying there isn't any climate change. I think he was just saying God is in control of it.

I am aware, but my point was throughout this thread that if one was to interpret the bible literally one would not have a proper interpretation of reality. Joe somehow felt like the interpretation of scripture in a literal sense in this case made rational sense that was compatible with reality. I'm pretty sure he jumped the gun, and posted before he thought (notice how he shifted from debating the literal black and white text to the interpretation and context of that text), and essentially won't admit he made that mistake. I don't think he believes that nor do catholics, but I was just making a point in how the bible can't be taken literally or how one can't base any science on it in a literal context, because it's wrong.

I wouldn't be giving him so much trouble if he'd just admit he made a mistake and that the bible in a literal context does say some things that are contradictory to reality instead of being a condescending asshole.

You guys are calling me a prick. That's the irony of this place. How are your first wives doing? What do they call you?

Yea, yea, I know. It was all their faults.

It's a great this place exists so a bunch of you can try the reverse the reality which is your lives: divorced, bitter, surfing the web for porn.

I made a simple and correct point: the Bible does not say Pi is 3, and I proved that, in context, the language you were distorting was simply describing a large basin by giving approximate measures of its size. Like when you give directions and tell someone, "It's three miles down the road."

That a whole bunch of you bitter, contentious people can't stand to just admit you were wrong is no news. You'd rather keep to your lies because that's what you are all about: narrow, tunnel-visioned, opinionated people.

But the Bible does not say Pi equals 3, and if you still say so after reading this, you're just being stubborn or stupid.
