Good for them. I'll be paying a visit once it's open.

No doubt I will too, but I'm just afraid it will be more like DFH on Rehoboth Ave. Don't get me wrong, that's a fun place and I go several times a summer, but there was a lot of charm sitting in that little tasting room or out on the picnic benches in Delmar.

Was a dumb call by Letarte- should have gone for 2 tires. :ohno: Jr led something like 70 of the 1st 71 laps. Goes into pit 1st. Come out 16 after the 15 drivers in front of him all went for 2 tires. Clean air was more important than tires. Not saying he would have won- Smoke was awful good the 2nd half of the race, but certainly would have finished a lot better than 10th.

I don't fault Letarte too badly, because a lot of strategies and gambles paid off handsomely for Jr. last year.

I listen to Jr's team during the two Dover races each year and Letarte is head and shoulders better as a crew chief than either of the Eury's were with Jr. Letarte's always trying to tweak something here and there and usually gets things set up pretty well for the end of the race. And it's difficult with Jr., because he doesn't have the same ability to diagnose a car like his dad could. Man, listening to Sr. for years, that man would tell the crew chief what to tell the crew to do to the car and it worked. That was the big difference between father and son. Jr. is passive, Sr. was the crew chief.

Oh, he's probably better than Eury Jr was, but Eury Sr was the best crew chief Jr ever had to fit Jr:

Tony Eury Sr as crew chief, DEI
2000: 2 wins, 16th in points. 1st rookie ever to win the All Star race, 2nd to Matt Kenseth in Rookie of Year.
2001: 3 wins 8th in points
2002: 2 wins 11th in points
2003: 2 wins 3rd in points
2004: 6 wins, 5th in points. Won Daytona 500. Was 3rd heading into the final 2 races. 2004 was also the year he was in the Corvette wreck and couldn’t finish 2 races because of burns. He also lost 25 pts because he cursed on camera.
The above was done with inferior equipment than Jr has now at Hendrick.

Tony Eury Jr as crew chief, DEI:
2005 1 win, 19th in points
2006 1 win, 5th in points
2007 1 win, 16th in points

Tony Eury Jr as crew chief, Hendrick:
2008 0 wins, 12th in points (Chase)
2009 0 wins (11 races)

Lance McGrew as crew chief, Hendrick:
2009 0 wins (24 races), 25th in points
2010 0 wins, 21st in points

Letarte as crew chief, Hendrick:
2011 0 wins, 7th in points (Chase)
2012 ???

Better equipment is debatable. Keep in mind, Jr. was essentially car #1 in the DEI stable. Now he's car #3 in the Hendrick stable. It also wouldn't surprise me if it ever came out that the DEI cars had a little extra, illegal something-something going on at the superspeedways back in the early 200Xs. Those cars were such much better than everyone else it was unreal.

Another bad call on tires for Jr. Caution with 22 laps, Jr was running 6th I think. Majority of lead lap stayed out, Jr pitted for 4 tires, restarted 14th, finished 15th. If Jr doesn't pit, he certainly finishes top 10. Letarte is a good crew chief, but he has blown it these past 2 weeks.

Those 2 calls the last 2 races have probably cost JR a combined 10-15 spots. He should be sitting in 2nd-3rd.

Greg Biffle. Was there ever a more boring NASCAR driver in history, beside maybe Terry Labonte?

Well, Smoke wins the rain shortened Auto Club 400 at Fontana, CA.

Results top 10:
1. Stewart
2. Kyle Bush
3. Junior (he really lucked into this one). Think he was running 6th when the caution for rain came out & 3 drivers ahead of him pitted. Bout time he had a pit call go his way.
4. Kevin Harvik
5. Carl Edwards
6. Greg Biffle
7. Ryan Newman
8. Martin Truex Jr.
9. Kurt Busch
10. Jimmie Johnson

Not looking good for the bottom half of Hendrick there. Still early, but Gordon and Kahne better get it together if they want to make the chase

Gordon is just having a run of bad luck. Top 5 car several races already. Engine failure, cut tire, pit road penalty right before a rain shortened end... :x He has easily been one of the 10 best cars so far.

F***ing Reutimann. :ohno: Don't putz your broke down, 30th something place car around the track until you get black flagged, then stop right in the middle of the damn racetrack. A guy who is completely out of the race for no good reason is allowed to change the entire outcome of the race. :ohno:

Johnson and Gordon both got screwed there, and Hendrick got denied his 200th Sprint cup owner win. Would have been a Hendrick 1-2-3. At least Jr still got 3rd.
