Peyton Manning is finalizing a contract with the Denver Broncos, a league source told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi on Monday.
Manning called Broncos vice president of football operations John Elway Monday to inform him of his decision.

I really don't think Manning's ever really mentored any QBs other than his brother. If he did, it certainly didn't translate because Curtis Painter and the other backup QBs with Indy over the years have been terrible. He may not have done so in the past because he was THE man for the foreseeable future. As for Seattle signing Green Bay backups... happenstance. Hawks GM Schneider was responsible for drafting Flynn, Seahawks need an upgrade to TJax, and much like Hasselbeck, Flynn was drafted late, was mentored by an All-Star QB and excelled when given the chance. Best part is that we didn't overspend like the Cards did for Kolb. Fuckin' dumbasses.

He was, despite no offseason with the team, despite an OL that lost 3 starters to injury for the season (4 total), and despite partially tearing a pec. I never said he was going to be a great/all-star QB, just that he would be better than expected, which he was. Yeah, we'll see. With a likely top-5 defense and better QB for a team that went 7-9 last year and lost 5 games by 6 points or less... the 9ers are no lock.
