MT in the top 25...you are nuts
Re: MT in the top 25...you are nuts
Maybe um should remain in the poll, but it is really hard to make an argument for a team that has played an all FCS schedule, is below .500 and the two teams they have beat have a total combined wins of 1 game

When you rush for over 400 yards you shouldn't lose. I missed a lot because I was on the road all day Saturday. But, good grief, there's no way you should lose a game when you rush for over 400 yards and the other team can't even manage 100 on the ground.

The Griz rushed for over 400 yards...but fumbled twice inside the 10 yard line. The other team didn't manage 100 on the ground, but got almost 400 in the air...those yards count just the same.

I think the Griz just played the 2 best teams in the Big Sky and will get much better as the season progress's. I certainly hope my Eagles do not have to face them again.
If the Griz had a better passing game and even marginally better safeties they'd be unstoppable. Young team that will get a lot better.

Well, I think fumbling twice inside the 10 yard line kind of leans into the "no way you should have lost that game" outlook. The Griz rushed for over 400 yards...but fumbled twice inside the 10 yard line. The other team didn't manage 100 on the ground, but got almost 400 in the air...those yards count just the same.
Rushing for 400 yards is a whole lot more impressive than passing for 400 yards. It implies physical domination of the line of scrimmage. Most of the time, if you run the ball and stop the run you're going to win.
I think that was a "coulda shoulda" for Montana.

We have a history of being physically dominated, having bad third quarters, and still winning. The red rurf is just an excuse for being hated...we're the Bill Clinton of FCSJohnStOnge wrote:Well, I think fumbling twice inside the 10 yard line kind of leans into the "no way you should have lost that game" outlook. The Griz rushed for over 400 yards...but fumbled twice inside the 10 yard line. Re: MT in the top 25...you are nuts
But we did also throw a pick, and fumbled a punt long snap deep in our own territory, giving the Griz the ball on the 10, so that kind of mitigates the UM fumbles. I saw two pretty evenly matched teams, with one being pass heavy, the other run heavy.Vidav wrote:To be fair, they only fumbled once.AZGrizFan wrote:

Re: MT in the top 25...you are nuts
True, but UM flat out dominated in the trenches. St Onge is right (for once); generally if you have success running the ball, and to the tune of 400 yards, you're going to win the game.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:But we did also throw a pick, and fumbled a punt long snap deep in our own territory, giving the Griz the ball on the 10, so that kind of mitigates the UM fumbles. Eh, T Mac was 14-17 against it, it just seems like he didn't do much because he hardly even had to throw.

And although it's sad to see it end, being in the top 25 for 20 years in a row is a feat that probably won't be matched any time soon.
