Watch him go on to success, once again proving that the Cowboys's problems are much deeper than you think.SuperHornet wrote:Payton's about to make a HUGE mistake if this pans out....

Cowboys' problems aren't that deep. It's Jerry Jones. And Jason Garrett. And their QB. And their O-line.uofmman1122 wrote:Watch him go on to success, once again proving that the Cowboys's problems are much deeper than you think.SuperHornet wrote:Payton's about to make a HUGE mistake if this pans out....![]()

Teams would rather hire someone with a name, even if they aren't that great that may fail, than hire a "no name" that may fail....it's also a sign of lazinessIvytalk wrote:How do these failed assholes keep getting jobs?

I'm not sure Rob Ryan's a bad hire. The Cowboys are a dysfunctional organization where a wild-card like Ryan can be hit or miss. Put him with an organization with enough structure and discipline to focus his efforts and keep him from being a distraction and he has a much better chance of being successful.clenz wrote:Teams would rather hire someone with a name, even if they aren't that great that may fail, than hire a "no name" that may fail....it's also a sign of lazinessIvytalk wrote:How do these failed assholes keep getting jobs?

I don't agree with this too much. It's about the players. He's never had a ton great players on his defenses. That's why some coaches look brilliant and others don't. Case in point: Belichick sucked in Cleveland. Now he's a genius in New England. It's obvious why. Rob Ryan has a lot of work to do when it comes to personnel in New Orleans....and that will make or break him.clenz wrote:Look at where his defenses have ranked during his career. Hey dear old dad wasn't the second coming of Bill Walsh when it came to head coaching. How many playoff wins did he have??? He ruined Cunningham's career putting a SIEVE in front of him and calling it a offensive line other coaches and GMs were saying that he took players no one else wanted. The Eagles still hold the record for most sacks allowed in a 16 game season 106!!!!!SuperHornet wrote:bluehenbillk wrote:Neither kid is half the coach their old man was.![]()

Unfortunately, Dad is best known for one incident in which he couldn't control his emotions (or his fist). He was an OUTSTANDING coach....

Belichick tried to act like Parcells in Cleveland. It didn't go over too well with established vets like Bernie Kosar.Kosar used a audible that Belicheat didn't call for on a play.Funny thing it worked!!!Next thing Kosar was put on waivers!!!!rkwittem wrote:I don't agree with this too much. don't forget that patchwork defense they had.rkwittem wrote:Cowboys' problems aren't that deep. It's Jerry Jones. And Jason Garrett. And their QB. And their O-line.uofmman1122 wrote: Watch him go on to success, once again proving that the Cowboys's problems are much deeper than you think.![]()
Ok, so the list is long, but other than that, they're actually OK. (I think.)

We will see how his replacement does with this group of patchwork defenders.tampajag wrote:don't forget that patchwork defense they had.rkwittem wrote: Cowboys' problems aren't that deep. It's Jerry Jones. And Jason Garrett. And their QB. And their O-line.

Didn't say he was. Not many are. My point (and, I think, hen's) was that Dad was an outstanding DC. He was likely in over his head as a HC. He was probably a good example of the Peter Principle. But he was an outstanding DC.dal4018 wrote:Hey dear old dad wasn't the second coming of Bill Walsh when it came to head coaching. How many playoff wins did he have??? They had a few too many injuries for me to blame their defense. They still have a few quality players there.tampajag wrote:don't forget that patchwork defense they had.rkwittem wrote: Cowboys' problems aren't that deep. It's Jerry Jones. And Jason Garrett. And their QB. And their O-line.
