Things have changed. In Owens day, there would have been many more death threats, many more school teachers saying he should be lynched, many more children saying Obama should be murdered and the news media would not have reported it as being unusual.

Today less people are involved in this type of behavior and this type of behavior is frowned upon by a larger number than in Owens day. There is less tolerance for this type of behavior, example Howard Cosell, Jimmy the Greek, Riley Cooper etc. Anybody public figure that says anything racists or acts racist loses their job or if they are a Democrat, get reprimanded.

Everything is now integrated, no separate schools, dorms, bathrooms, restaurants, Military units, etc. Back in Owens day, an African American football player for the University of Minnesota, had to sit out a game because they played a school that threatened to boycott the game. This would not happen today. There were no African American players in Major League Baseball in Owens day.

Things change, not as fast as we may want, but maybe as fast as humans can handle.

As stated before you act as if racism was a problem in the south ask Jim Brown about his 4 yrs at Syracuse ask him about the many times they tried to remove him from the team by simple demotion.If the late Paul Robeson were alive he could tell you stories about his four yrs at Rutgers University in our home state of NJ.He had to deal with straight out racism just as Brown and Owens had the "pleasure" of dealing with.

These great people dealt with a lot more racism, North and South, than Obama ever did, but you keep saying things have not changed.
