IIRC, this will be our second trip to Round 2. Last year we made it to Round 2 courtesy of a win over B-C. I hope we put on a good performance, and even if we lose, we get a little more respect from the rest of the FCS. :thumb:

Go Chants!! Bring it back to the Big South. As you've read, CCU and the BSC are getting absolutely no respect. Go win some!

Looking forward to the match up. I thought Coastal Carolina looked very good today. May become a shoot out, and the least should be a hard fought game.

You guys need to beat somebody besides BC to get that. That would apply to anyone with a similar resume.

Montana won't count, right? Cuz they're "down" this year... :coffee:

:suspicious: Do you honestly think I'm being overly critical because they have only beaten the champ of a conference that hasn't won a playoff game since 1999? Coastal is 0-3 in the playoffs vs anyone not named Bethune.

Yep, CCU has full control of who they get to play in the playoffs. Hunter (our AD) should really stop scheduling those patsy playoff games.
Provide me with a list of teams that you feel CCU needs to beat at some point to earn some respect. Lets try to be realistic. Any other year, beating the SoCon would be great (but they were abysmal this year). So what other conferences does that really leave us? Should we trek out each year to Big Sky? :coffee:

Sometimes it's not about who you beat in the regular season...it's who you beat (or don't beat) in the playoffs.....that's how you earn respect....witness the lack of respect for any BSC team NOT named Montana or EWU. :coffee:

Beat Montana. Mark, CCU has had opportunities in the playoffs, but can't beat anyone besides Bethune. Last year the Chants dispatched of them nicely and then got destroyed by ODU who lost the next round. Thanks to our playoff system, teams do have the chance to earn respect. CCU hasn't done it yet.

And a mutiple-year run of doing things like that (beating Montana or other historically good teams) is what it will take to wash away the stench of mutiple gassings in the playoffs.

Just reread this... you do have full control over how many teams you get to play in the playoffs. 8-)

I'm not sure I do. Are you're saying you can only beat first round opponents? You guys were ranked something like 6 at one point this year. You should be able to make the quarters.

You're just being obtuse. Maybe I should have spelled it out:

Coastal does not have control of who they are matched up against in the playoffs.

Jesus Fucking Christ. We lost to ODU and AppState in those other playoff games, IIRC.

Now the Montana game will not be a win for us, but it'll be great experience and hopefully we take the opportunity to either upset UM or make it painful for them to win.

Huh?

Sounds as if you've thrown in the towel already.

Just keep this in mind...49-48. Remember, Delaware is East of the Mason Dixon line...not North or South...so you Rebs might be able to draw some hope from our victory.

I'm realistic. I won't give up on CCU but I understand the odds of us winning are slim to none. :twocents:  8-) 8-)

I draw strength from the 49-48 score.

If anything you should look to Wofford's 23-22 victory 6 years ago. SOUTH CAROLINA STRONG, AMIRITE??
