Majority of Americans Support Legalization of Pot
Re: Majority of Americans Support Legalization of Pot
Look at all those states that still have it illegal. Not even decriminalized, those states are far off from out right legalization.

Re: Majority of Americans Support Legalization of Pot
Maryland just legalized medical weed. It seems that decriminalization/legalizing for medicinal purposes are the step stones to total legalization. Maryland might have it buy 2016, maybe 2017.

You didn't ask who I thought would be next. You asked who I thought would be a good sample and I provided a list. Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Vermont... you really don't see those as demographically and socially similar?Ibanez wrote:From what I've read over the last few months, Alaska will most likely be the next to legalize it followed by either Vermont or Oregon. You might not think it's a good sample, and that's your opinion, but only one of the states you've listed has a real shot in the coming year or two.

Right, because you were bitching about samples. Your list of samples, would theoretically, be states that have a shot of being the next to legalize weed and therefore we can study the effects. Where is the value in saying Connecticut is a good sample even when they are probably 5-10 years away from legalizing weed. So when you say, South Carolina is a good sample, that's actually a bad sample due to the fact that they aren't anywhere close to decriminalizing or legalizing medical marijuana.89Hen wrote:You didn't ask who I thought would be next. Maryland is probably a good sample, as is Ohio. Oregon is a great sample, IMO.

CT would be a good sample. SC would be a good sample. All the states I listed would be good samples. VT would not be a good sample IMO. Again, you asked what would be good samples, NOT who would be first or even soon.Ibanez wrote:Right, because you were bitching about samples. There are ethnic differences. I believe the original article in this thread noted that blacks and hispanics were more in favor of legalizing by a pretty notable margin. That tells me that different groups would have different impacts and different challenges.Grizalltheway wrote:So are you trying to say legalizing weed over there would keep too many knee grows out of jail?89Hen wrote: They are not similar to states around here.
