Great, we're up to 2 QB's who were backups in the past 20 years who have gone on to success in the NFL. And both so far have been HOF QB's. Certainly makes me want to reassess Mark Sanchez and whoever is taking snaps for the Cardinals these days. Could be future Canton material, for sure.Vidav wrote:Kurt Warner.kalm wrote:

Re: Philadelphia: City of Losers Again
Nonsense, I take it all in stride. I fully soaked in the Phil's Golden Era from '08 to '10 and enjoyed every minute of it, realizing that it wasn't likely to happen again in my lifetime. And I'm fully aware that there won't be a Green victory parade down Broad St in my lifetime either. It does build character, though, I've got that in spades!Ivytalk wrote:GF and his brother take Philly pro sports far too seriously. The Wings won a couple of titles. Don't forget the Phantoms won 2 as well. I might've been at a couple of those Wings & Phantoms title games...Ivytalk wrote:Judging from the attendance, it wasn't enough to placate Nova, either.Grizalltheway wrote:

Make Delaware Football Great Again
Re: Philadelphia: City of Losers Again
The best thing with the Phantoms was they eked some more life out of The Spectrum. That was a great arena for hockey. Sad to see it get leveled, dingy red cloth seats and all.
Nearly 200,000 seats worth of torn down venues. Top to bottom: JFK, Spectrum, Vet for the non-Philly followers.

Re: Philadelphia: City of Losers Again
You don't, unless you eek out that tiny percentage of backup QB's who flower into Hall of Famers and enter the discussion of the best QB's of all time. You named one guy and Vidav named another. That's two backup QB's in the past 15 years who have won, compared with the likely number of backup QB's during that same time (say 32 teams x 1 backup x 7.5 years for the sake of estimating - I was going to use 6.93 but I'm not smart enough to use that number). So that's 240 backup QB's in that time, and likely a lowball number. So those two guys came out to be 0.8%. So 99.2% of the time, and most likely more, you don't win with backup QB's in the NFL.kalm wrote:You said "you don't win with backup QB's in the NFL.GannonFan wrote:

Nah, you still think the Cards going 3-4 with a backup after going 8-1 with a starter is "winning". You're imitation of Charlie Sheen in this manner is indeed humorous. See, you can be funny!kalm wrote:93henfan wrote:Let us not forget Tony Banks' backup.![]()

The weakest of your arguments and you're sticking to it. Yup, the Cards don't need Palmer, he wouldn't make a difference.kalm wrote:Ummm, you do realize Palmer missed 3 games earlier this season too, right?GannonFan wrote:

The Cards won without Palmer. Your statement was "you don't win in the NFL with backups". Is it less likely? Yes. But you can win in the NFL with back ups. You can even go to the playoffs and win Superbowls...unless you're from Philly.GannonFan wrote:The weakest of your arguments and you're sticking to it. What about backups that used to be starters and even took their teams to multiple conference championships?kalm wrote:The Cards won without Palmer. Aw, you're still peeved that you're attempt at humor didn't come off right. It's cool, dude, comedians try out a lot of material that doesn't work before they find something that does. Vegas disagrees with you - the betting line has the Panthers as 5 point favorites despite the Cardinals "winning" with backup QB's. You should text them and maybe reference Mr. Sheen.kalm wrote:You really think you've won this?GannonFan wrote:
