Some in the media are screwing up with that one. My understanding is that she said the science should not stand in the way of it but then made the argument that the reason for that is that the science supports it. She was not trying to say "ignore science." She was saying the science supports it.
Whether she was right about the science supporting it or not is another question. But my understanding is that she was not saying "ignore science."
