Depends on your perspective. You could make a case that it started at least during WWII which was also partly started by WWI and the treaties resulting. Or the Crimean War of the 1800’s. Or it started in 2014, or during the Orange Revolution. All wars are proxy wars until. The concern here from the very start was greater conflict compromising NATO members and dragging us in.
One man started this war and one man can stop it from spreading.

The West has pragmatic reasons for supporting Ukraine not to mention moral obligations just like it’s had but disregarded in other places around the world. That doesn’t change the fact that we need Ukraine to win this one.
