Gil, she’s a politician.

I’m not here to defend lying politicians. We could pull up some data and lie counts comparing Harris to Trump (several news orgs do that) and I’m quite sure it wouldn’t be close. But they all do it, including Harris. Campaign rhetoric and promises vs. action in office. That’s normal.

To try and compare any other politician to Trump’s dishonesty, criminal behavior, and lack of intellect is silly and you know it. Not everything in politics is equivalent. Trying too hard to be centrist (both sides do it!) is, similar to atheism, a religion unto itself.

Trump has more to gain from a 2nd debate. An opportunity to improve on the first (hey, everyone has an off night). Avoiding one is not a good sign strategically. Something is off.

The article also touches on the Laura Loomer ascension. Oof.
Tim Miller of The Bulwark wrote: “Impotent Trump was too intimidated to even look Kamala’s direction at the debate and now he wusses out of the rematch. Cannot recall a more dramatic demonstration of beta weakness in a campaign setting.” Harris posted on social media that “we owe it to the voters to have another debate,” and reiterated that sentiment to her cheering supporters in Greensboro.

In a speech to about 550 people in Tucson, Arizona, Trump insisted he had scored a “monumental victory” in the debate, referred to Minnesota governor Tim Walz as the vice president, slurred his words, and appeared to be having trouble reading off the teleprompters. CNN tonight compared one of Trump’s 2016 debates with Hillary Clinton to his performance on Tuesday, and the difference was stark.

Psychiatrist Richard A. Friedman wrote in The Atlantic today that Trump is showing signs of cognitive decline. His tangents and inability to get to a point suggest “a fundamental problem with an underlying cognitive process.” “If a patient presented to me with the verbal incoherence, tangential thinking, and repetitive speech that Trump now regularly demonstrates, I would almost certainly refer them for a rigorous neuropsychiatric evaluation to rule out a cognitive illness,” he wrote.

Trump continues to try to dominate the political debate by refusing to back off any of his assertions, doubling down on the lies about immigrants eating pets and teachers giving students sex change operations. He called Harris a “Marxist communist fascist socialist,” clearly just stringing words together.

Was Trump in on the staged debate?

Totally rigged and ABC provided Harris with basic generalizations of the questions, all Harris had to do was play her part and she did so quite well.

She has no reservations at all about getting people killed… none!

I figure Harris is fine with things as they stand and is just trolling him - but he should be wanting another chance to ameliorate the humiliation he's still suffering from his last effort. Of course what he says he'll do means nothing.

It wasn’t rigged. Christ Trump was allowed extra time and follow up answers the entire time. Did you even watch it?

It’s funny to watch Trump and MAGA surrogates lay down the marching orders and see all of MAGA follow.

How was it rigged?

The moderators fact checking doneOLD and not harris was balanced by them letting doneOLD have the last word.

Was it rigged because they let doneOLD hang himself out to dry by letting him talk for 5 minutes more than harris? That seems more like an issue with doneOLD's self control than a rigged debate.

Was there an element that missed?

The ONLY people claiming it are MAGA and even some of them recognized how ridiculous he was that night. Lindsey Graham, Erik Erikson.

If you could hear what the like’s of Jesse Watters, Hannity, or Trumps campaign actual were saying behind closed doors, it would be similar.
